I specialize in working with neurodivergent individuals, whether or not they have a formalized diagnosis of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder or Autism Spectrum Disorder.
My approach is holistic, client-centered, and trauma-informed. I strive to integrate the intersectionality of the individual, familial, cultural, and social factors to best understand my client's lived experience. I use a variety of modalities to best suit my client's needs, pulling from CBT, DBT, ACT, and TF-CBT. Therapy with me may look different than what you’ve seen on movies or television, or different from experience with previous therapists! I love to incorporate arts, crafts, toys, games, video games, music, and movement in sessions to help my clients understand their mental health.

I primarily work with ADHD/Autism, C-PTSD and life transitions, particularly in young adults.
There comes a time when we are forced to meet ourselves, hard as we might try to avoid it. It can happen for different reasons and during different life stages. Maybe you’re experiencing a big change that’s bringing everything up all at once, or perhaps you’re realizing the mask you’ve been wearing doesn’t quite fit right anymore. What you’ve always done is no longer working for you, and the new things you’ve tried so far aren't cutting it. And while you feel ready for change, the path forward feels messy, confusing, and overwhelming.

I specialize in working with women who want to improve how they feel about themselves and their relationships. Many of the women I work with have known adversity. You may be struggling with sadness, anxiety, anger—all feelings which are very normal given the stressful experiences you are going through. You want to move beyond the past so you can accept yourself as you are. Learning how to manage negative thoughts, intense emotions, setting boundaries, and improved communication would all be skills you’d like to improve upon.

Are you feeling low, empty, or alone and are struggling to recover from this feeling? Are you experiencing heightened stress, anxiety, or mood swings that are making it difficult to manage life and/or relationships? Oftentimes, our internal states can disrupt our ability to function and engage on a daily basis. Have you experienced a personal/professional setback or loss that you have found difficult to recover from? After a loss, it can feel isolating and even challenging to see hope for the future.

What is your body telling you? Do you or your child/teen ever have that heart-beating fast, sweaty palms, knees shaking, upset stomach, foggy brain feeling? Ever notice these feelings during social events, big life decisions or transitions, in relationships or in particularly overwhelming environments? Do these sensations ever result in feelings of being discouraged, exhausted and preferring to be alone? These are just a few examples of how our bodies can communicate overwhelm or overstimulation of a lived experience. Our mind-body connection can make a huge impact in our ability to regulate and manage these sensations.

My patients are usually hard working adults who have run into some tough times or are experiencing difficult emotional issues such as anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, and addictions. I focus on using a strengths-based and harm reduction approach, which views each person as an individual with unique strengths and challenges. Using this approach values the person and facilitates a customized treatment plan for the individual. My role is not to judge you or your behaviors, but to act as an independent consultant for improving your mental well-being and quality of life.

I draw on several approaches for treatment including EMDR, mindfulness-based CBT, and traditional talk therapy, tailoring my practice toward the needs of each person. I use a humanistic attachment lens informed by interpersonal neurobiology. I primarily work with people who have complex intersections of identity and those who have experienced trauma. The trauma may surface through symptoms of depression, anxiety, PTSD, or difficulty managing relationships. I work with a lot of individuals who have experienced complex trauma, developmental trauma, a single traumatic event, emotional neglect, and physical neglect.

I currently have had to pause on accepting new patients. I will update my profile when that changes. Everyone experiences difficult times in their lives. Whether it's struggling with a difficult relationship, work or school, anxiety, depression, or problems in your family or social life, you're making an effort now to change. We will work together on ways to resolve the thoughts, beliefs, and behaviors that have prevented you from being who you want and attaining the things in life you really want for yourself. I offer a warm, safe, and confidential setting where we determine what your therapy needs are and how to achieve them.

My speciality is working with those who want to improve their overall wellbeing. Do you feel stuck in stress, sadness, trauma, numbness, or isolation? Perhaps you struggle to maintain relationships, or find yourself in a cycle of unhealthy boundaries. You may question your own worth and struggle to communicate your thoughts and feelings with those in your life. Whatever your struggles, you are most likely hoping for more peace of mind, connection, confidence, and compassion. Just like our bodies heal from scrapes and bruises, we are also built and meant to heal emotionally and mentally. Counseling is a great way to gain life skills.

Therapy is where you come to reflect on life decisions and experiences and I am here for you through those moments. I would describe a session as being insightful and meaningful even if it is in subtle ways. We may spend some time talking about your daily life, or big things; some days it may feel like a big breakthrough happened and others, a casual conversation. All the things brought up are important to allow you and I to build a therapeutic relationship and to feel comfortable. Everything that you talk about contributes to your growth, even if it is not tangible yet.

Female Therapists

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
