I am a Licensed Professional Counselor who earned my Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Capella University in 2020, along with my Bachelor of Science in Psychology in 2013. Currently, I am seeking a doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Walden University. During my internships and employment experiences I worked with the youth population that experienced trauma and struggle with substance addiction. In my career development, I worked with diverse populations, including the IDD and corrections populations.

You may recall times in your life when you sacrificed your own needs for the sake of maintaining a certain presentation or maybe even for the sake of an important relationship. When your feelings are dismissed, or when things begin to feel unfair you’re less likely to say anything out of fear you’ll “rock the boat.” So instead you find yourself over-functioning and taking on more responsibility. You tell yourself “If I do more they’ll notice” “If I say no I’ll hurt them”. These patterns keep you operating in a way that don’t serve you and ultimately leave you feeling unfulfilled, anxious, resentful, and burnt out.

It can be difficult to watch your child suffer. It is even more difficult to decide that you can't help and need to bring in an outsider. From the age of 11 on, children begin navigating more complex emotional lives. It can be difficult to deal with these big feelings when you don't have the vocabulary or tools to communicate what's going on. When your child speaks through behavior instead of words, you get things like bad grades, self harm, statements like "I hate myself" and "I'm a bad kid," drug use, sneaking out, and more.

Every client's issue, needs, and goals will always be different depending on where they are in their journey of trauma and healing. I refuse to treat everyone the same within the scope of my practice. I find being authentic and unapologetic in my delivery tends to allow the client to revisit, readjust and release the things they have found to hold them stagnate in their healing. What I have also uncovered about a client is their "want" and "why" does not always coincide with each other. What they may want may not be why they want it. Realistically, the result is always to find what they lost some time ago.
