I have worked with older teens and adults for over 20 years. I view therapy as a collaborative effort, believing my clients to be experts on themselves, and my job as facilitating movement towards establishment and achievement of their goals in therapy. I believe the therapeutic relationship to be the most crucial element of therapy. I provide a relaxed, supportive and empowering environment in which my clients can work. I believe that the more honest my clients can be with what they find beneficial in therapy, the better able we are to work successfully to achieve their goals.
I have worked extensively with clients suffering from mood disorders, including depression; and anxiety disorders including phobias and panic disorders. I am trained in the treatment of eating disorders. Many of my clients have struggled with relationship issues, communication difficulties, self esteem, grief and loss, and insufficient coping skills.
I work primarily from a cognitive behavioral approach, helping clients target specific obstacles in their lives which may prevent fulfillment of their goals. I also utilize a mindfulness based approach, assisting my clients to make intentional choices in their present lives. I assist clients in achieving healthier, more satisfying relationships.
