I have a special interest working with individuals who are going through a Quarter-Life Crisis (yes, this is a real thing), as well as first-therapy goers. Feeling stuck? Have you exhaustively explored every self-help book out there, only to find yourself struggling to put into practice all that you've learned? Do you want things to get better but are unsure where/how to start? You're not alone-I'm here to help. I understand how excruciating and frustrating it can be to repeat the same painful patterns and feel like nothing will get better. We will explore ways to start moving past the pain and towards a happier and healthier life

Are you feeling anxious or depressed? Are you experiencing relationship struggles with family members or friends? Life is not for the faint of heart, is it? The truth is that we all go through trying times in our lives. During these times, we often benefit from the help we receive from family, friends, and sometimes even professionals.

People come to therapy with strengths and skills that have helped them to survive up until meeting me, and I find that it is often better to work with existing tools rather than tearing down entire foundations. As a clinician, I can help you to decide what stays, what goes, what skills should be emphasized, and what skills should be learned. I have supported others to solve relationship problems, establish effective coping systems, with adjusting to difficult life experiences and spaces. We are both experts in the room and I will use my understandings of integrative practices to help build the dream that you imagine for yourself.

We all experience ups and downs, but no longer have to be held captive by our emotions. In my time as a therapist, I have learned to utilize a wide array of methodologies to help others learn to cope with emotions directly and redefine their sense of joy and purpose in life. Asking for help is the utmost sign of bravery, and my goal is to create a safe space for you to no longer have to suffer in silence or walk this path alone.

Life tends to throw us curve balls. With all of our energy spent juggling obligations, responsibilities, and managing daily stresses, it's easy to wake up one day and realize that you just feel "stuck." Making the decision to begin therapy can be difficult, but it's the first step towards regaining control of your life. Whether you are feeling overwhelmed, experiencing relationship difficulties, or just want a different perspective on whatever is holding you back, I'm here to help you navigate and overcome these challenges. Every person's situation is unique. I do not treat the therapeutic process as "one-size-fits all."

I most enjoy serving young adults in need of support through life's ups and downs. It's a privilege to walk with people in their teens, 20s, and 30s as they dream up goals, share what's getting in the way, and imagine a fuller and brighter future. Whether you're struggling to find your path or you're battling mid-life stressors, your story is important. You may find my experience working with students and parents in colleges and high schools helpful to you and relevant to your situation.

I practice from the belief that humans are complex beings with amazing capabilities. Obstacles and challenging situations can block us from using our capabilities to their full potential, changing the ways we think, the ways that we live our lives, and the ways in which we relate to others. As a clinician, I believe that therapy can be used as a resource to for living out our potential. Everyone is capable of change, and I act as a resource for individuals in need to work through the limitations of health burdens, social injustices, relationship problems, and the other challenging issues.

I believe we all possess unique strengths that can help us overcome obstacles and reach newfound potentials. Often, our strengths end up buried or bruised by the complexities of life, and we could use some help. "Why do I keep feeling this way?" "What am I feeling?" "Who am I?" "Is this normal?" "Why does this keep happening?" These are some common questions that bring people to seek therapy. I see these questions as beacons of light. Together, in therapy, we can take this light and learn to better navigate through dark and twisted hallways of anxiety, trauma, shame, depression, etc... out into fresh air in which to THRIVE.

Eirene simply means peace and reconciliation within yourself and with other people. How is your relationship with yourself? What about with other people? When those relationships are unbalanced it can look like repeating the same dysfunctional patterns no matter how hard you try. It can feel like you are stuck, unmotivated, frustrated and don't have the energy to make the changes you desire or not being sure of what changes you need to make to live a fuller, more complete life. You may also feel overwhelmed, anxiety filled, doubt in yourself and your abilities, anger/irritation, and setting impossible goals for yourself.

I'm amazed and moved by the process of healing and growth in this life, and it feels like an honor that I get to partner with others within their own processes. I offer a warm, genuine, and practical approach to therapy that centers your human needs and emotions alongside your unique identity and values. My work is grounded in deep personal curiosity, training and application of mindfulness, the Internal Family Systems model, and positive neuroplasticity. I've seen the power of bringing a supportive awareness to one's patterns and burdens and turning towards experiences of safety, satisfaction and connection that affirm you.

Female Therapists

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
