About
When we feel powerless, alone, or taken advantage of, it makes sense that we numb to cope. We often do this through alcohol and substance use, isolation, and unhealthy relationships. The things we chose to cope initially work really well - until they don't. I work with adults and teens and focus on experiences of trauma, and the thoughts, feelings, and behaviors we develop to live our lives around the people and events that have hurt us.
I am licensed in Illinois and California, and have advanced training in attachment-based and trauma-informed psychotherapy. Trauma work doesn't always involve talking about the specific events at first. It takes time to get there and we work together in determining what works best for you.
My therapeutic approach is warm, genuine, and non-judgemental, and I provide a safe space for you to go at your own pace and use therapy to address the changes you'd like to make in your life.
