Affirming queer identity is an essential part of my practice as is social justice and liberation from oppressive systems. With a focus on mental health, trauma, and substance use within the LGBTQ community, I work primarily with queer, transgender, and gender non-conforming people of color. Our work together is focused on your needs and goals. Through my background as a writer, I understand the value of a supportive space to explore feelings. In our sessions, you'll find a safe environment for self-expression and personal reflection. From this foundation, insights emerge and growth takes place.

Ryan derives his approach from a varied set of psychological theoretical frameworks and philosophical traditions, among which include Psychodynamic and Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy, Internal Family Systems, Harm Reduction, 12-Steps Recovery, Existential Therapy, Positive Psychology, Spiritualism, Exposure & Response Prevention, Acceptance & Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Somatic Therapy, Grief Therapy, and more.

At The Sexuality, Attachment, and Trauma Project, we provide identity-affirming care for all communities. Our patients are people, not problems, and we work with each person differently. We treat a range of issues related to sexuality and gender. These include out-of-control sexual behavior, sometimes labeled sex addiction (although we’re not fans of labels). Patients also come to us for intimacy anxiety, sexual compulsivity, gender and orientation confusion, LGBTQ+ issues, and family trauma.

Finding the right therapist can be a difficult task. My goal is to provide a safe and non-judgmental space for you to share your thoughts and feelings. By listening to and understanding your needs, I will assist in navigating complex issues that are currently preventing you from reaching your goals/ideal self. I have extensive experience in treating adults, adolescents, and children in a variety of settings.

I have several years of experience helping clients with an array of challenges. My clients are teenagers and adults struggling with depression, anxiety, suicidal thoughts, and drug and alcohol dependency and abuse.
