We like to help people who are seeking to make their lives better, whether it's to save their marriage, go through a divorce without losing their minds or parent their children without killing them ;) Both our counselors are pretty laid back and like to "tell it like it is." You won't hear much professional jargon from us; We prefer to keep things simple. Our goal as therapists is to help our clients never see us again...we would love to get to a point where we no longer have people to help because everyone is coping so well!

Therapy is a space where you can explore the full range of your experience and have compassionate witness for whatever arises. Together we can tend to all the relationships of life, including relationship to yourself and the non-human world. We can explore deep longings, desires, and fears. We can bring care and understanding to old patterns to access choice, connection, pleasure, and new ways of being. I am comfortable exploring sexual health topics with clients, including how to have more fulfilling intimate and sensual experiences and increase awareness and acceptance of one's desire and sexuality.

My therapeutic style is family of origin, client-centered and trauma focused.
The world can be a scary place. Things can happen to us where the scars are not visible to the world. These scars can show up as depression, anxiety, anger, and even thoughts of suicide. In our sessions together, we will work together to find relief from these scars. I want to provide a safe space where you can tell your story and be heard. I am specialized to work with trauma, depression, anxiety, and feelings of intense anger. I incorporate Emotion Focus Therapy (EFT), Attachment, and LIfespan Integration (for trauma).

I offer holistic individual, family, couples/relationship, and group therapy.
Healing and caring for ourselves is hard work. Sometimes painful, often fulfilling, occasionally tedious, it is a necessary part of being open to the experiences that life has to offer us. Therapy is one way to find support in healing from trauma, managing our health, and discovering and practicing new ways of caring for ourselves. As Audre Lorde wrote, "Caring for myself is not self-indulgence, it is self-preservation, and that is an act of political warfare." This work is important, both individually and collectively, and I am here to help you with it.

I deliver direction to put our work together in practice in the real-world life of your family.
When your brooding, moody teen just won't listen and your partner isn't much help either, what's a stressed out, overwhelmed parent like you to do? Pick up the phone and give me a call. Why? Because even though arguments and communication conflicts can make it feel like your family members are from an entirely different planet, there really are some secrets to bring peace, calm, and order to the chaos. I help people with depression who want to feel better in life. I help parents needing parenting skills. I help couples needing to find better ways of communication. I work with military, first responders and veterans to cope with life

My practice is inspired by a combination of Internal Family Systems, CBT, DBT, ACT, Sound Therapy, Trauma Informed Yoga, Polyvagal Theory, and Humanistic Therapy.
Accepting New Telehealth Clients - I provide trauma focused therapies for adults and adolescents with a non-judgmental, collaborative and strengths focused approach. This means that it is my highest priority to ensure therapy is a place where you feel equally empowered and cared for. Traumatic experiences rob us of a sense of autonomy and it is my hope to create a place in therapy where you can reconnect and show love towards all parts of yourself.

Somedays you feel like you have it in you, and other days there isn’t an ounce to give to others let alone yourself. You have worked so hard to do all the right things, yet inside you feel completely overwhelmed, alone, and inadequate. You’re comparing yourself to friends, family, and strangers. What you see is that they have it all together, and well let’s be honest you feel like you don’t. You may have even mastered the art of faking it till you make it. It’s time for that to change! You are hoping to feel more in control and capable of handling challenges that come at you.

All are welcome at Abundance Family Therapy! Everyone has times that seem too hard to bear. Life can seem pretty heavy at times, and we just need our load lightened. Sometimes the heaviness comes from feelings of anxiety, depression, life transitions, loneliness, spiritual challenges, communication issues or even relationship fractures. If you find yourself feeling the weight of these things or perhaps other things in your life, please come on in and let me help lighten your load. Although experiencing these feelings or situations remind us, we are human, it is the overcoming that brings peace and growth.

My passion is working with couples, the foundation of the family.
Welcome! We are all emotional and relational beings so naturally our greatest happiness and heartache often come from our relationships and are ongoing throughout our lives. Experiencing anxiety, depression, feelings of being stuck, loneliness, spiritual challenges, struggling with communication issues, moving through discouragement, and unmet expectations in yourself and/or loved ones, is not a sign of failure or weakness. These experiences simply remind us we are human and provide opportunities for growth. The choice to do something different is yours. I welcome the walk with you on your journey of hope and transformation.

My therapeutic training is in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), attachment theory, mindfulness, expressive and narrative therapy, internal family systems, anti-oppression theory, dream work, traditional healing, and liberation psychology.
I offer land-based therapy. This work entails an embodied experience of healing through a collaboration with nature and myself. I believe wholeheartedly that our wellness is interwoven with the health of our environment and remembering we are also nature. My office is outdoors, on land being stewarded to enhance the prairie ecosystem and support sustainable food practices. A typical session will include mindfulness practices to regulate the nervous system, activity that supports a relationship not just with self, but also connecting to land, typically through gardening and other land stewarding practices.

To list a few; school based triage, family support of DCYF involvement, adoption/guardian support, family reunification and preservation, crisis and law enforcement, LGBTQ support, depression/anxiety and other concerns of personal, emotional and behavioral health.
The therapeutic relationship should empower an individual to regain ownership of their life, shifting negative self-talk and other impacts of trauma; allowing for holistic healing and growth. It is my hope to actively walk alongside my client as they work to create their peace; ultimately gaining an improvement in positive self-awareness and optimism, with a side of lasting security and emotional health.

Many times in our lives we believe that overcoming obstacles is like attempting the impossible. We continue to feel lonely, make the same mistakes, and have the same fears, self- doubts that eventually cause us to believe that life will always be the same. Counseling can assist you in making the changes that you desire in your life. Providing you the opportunity to explore new avenues in which you might not have believed before. This journey may not be easy; however, it is one that can bring out the change you have been longing for.

Family Therapy

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
