My clinical focus has been on depression, anxiety, self-harm and suicidality, substance use, trauma, and family difficulties.
I have worked with adolescents ages 12-17 with mental health and a substance use diagnosis in a residential setting, as well as a case manager and program coordinator within foster care and adoption. I have also worked as a counselor for domestic violence and sexual assault victims. Having the skills to cope with your emotions and thoughts and having someone assist you as you work through your emotions and needs at your personal pace is imperative. I have been described as a lighthouse that safely guides others to where they need to go. Let me help you find your way.

I take the bio-psycho-social approach towards helping you, your family, and your relationships.
Associated with Greater Houston Psychiatric Associates, PLLC. My treatment method involves helping you gain insight, take action, make changes, and accept if change is not possible. I will help manage your struggle with mental illness and will help you through the normal stressors that often accompany transitions in life. The hurt you feel after a separation. The emptiness you feel when your children leave home. The grief you feel from the loss of a loved one. The stress from the unbearable work demands. Whatever the cause, I help with the skills needed to either change the situation and/or the way you think about it.

It can emerge in the form of pornography addiction, infidelity, hook up apps, and illegal behaviors.Clients seek me out, when there has been problematic sexual behavior either with an individual or in a relationship. Most behaviors of a sexual nature have caused damage to the individual, couple and families. Many people suffer from past trauma and the development of healthy sexual behaviors have been interrupted by abuse, both physical , sexual and emotional. Behaviors can become compulsive and eventually secretive and shameful for the person.

However that may be, as a couple, or even as a family, we can build the necessary coping, communication, and boundary setting skills you have been seeking.
Through this journey of discovery, whether it's via navigating trauma, drama (relationships), or even your mama (issues)-it can be hard to see improvement with just talking to yourself. You may be ready to use that life-line, if so I am available and willing to help you reach the other side.

Family Therapy

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
