I especially enjoy working with teenagers and their families and have a passion for helping clients heal from trauma. My typical client is one who is facing a recent problem and who is searching for how to use ones strengths to cope with problems and build resilience. This person tends to value family engagement and seeks encouragement from love ones. This one may feel overwhelmed with competing demands on time and resources and may feel that no one would understand. This person may misjudge social situations and may not feel like others are accepting of his/her differences.

As an experienced counselor in addressing depression, grief, anxiety, family/life transitions, and identity exploration, I can help! As a parent, are you concerned that your child does not seem like their usual self, with a loss of focus and emotional control? Let's work together to create life skills and build on their strengths. Your child, not the problem or behavior, is the center of my focus and intervention.

I have worked with a wide range of clients who have experienced trauma in their lives either through abuse, sexual assaults, or death of close friends and family. One of my specialties is assisting individuals find peace with their experiences and overcoming anxiety and stress brought on life events. I also often work with clients who are in the process of deconstructing their faith and can offer a nonjudgment place to discuss concerns in this area of life. I am also trained in EMDR therapy.

The Family Center for Therapy and Assessment (TFCTA) is a private practice owned by Dr. Gaston Rougeaux-Burnes (Dr. R.B.). Dr. R.B. is a Licensed Psychologist who specializes in working with families, couples, and children, from all over West Texas. Dr. R.B. offers a variety of therapeutic services including individual therapy, couples therapy, and psychological assessment.

I have worked with all types of issues ranging from depression, anxiety, addiction, family issues, and crisis where people are giving up and struggling with life's hardships. As a mom I know how difficult it can be to watch your child struggle with any issue they may face. It is my goal to walk through these difficult times with you and provide you and your child with the support you need.

At times we all struggle with life changes such as job change or loss, the ending of a relationship, the loss of a loved one, parent-child conflict, or family-marital conflict.
