At work, you’re a rock star! You can handle anything that comes your way. Whenever there’s a problem, you’re the one who fixes it. It’s your show and you’re killing it. So why do you feel so unfulfilled? On paper, you’re successful – making your family proud. But inside, something is still missing. A longing emptiness sits deep in the pit of your stomach. You’ve always worked so hard to pursue goals “at any cost,” but you’ve begun to realize that the cost was your well-being. All of your relationships seem to be out of obligation. You never have any time to care for yourself. Unless something changes, things will only get worse...

As a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, I work with individuals, couples, and families experiencing a variety of concerns.
Is anxiety getting the best of you? Are you feeling depressed, with low energy and motivation? Or, could it be that your most important relationships are suffering from a lack of emotional connection, with frequent arguments or stony silence? We all have times in life where things may not be going the way we envision, but if you feel stuck in a bad place, there is hope. Many people find therapy helps to get them back on track. It can be a bit scary to think about taking this step, but it can make a difference.

I am a Holistic Therapist meaning I treat mental health through the lens of the whole person: emotional, relational, physical, and spiritual. I offer experiences treating depression, trauma, anxiety, eating disorders and other mental health issues aiming to bring clients into their bodies and out of the mode of traditional talk therapy. These include psychodrama, sand tray, art, and yoga therapy. Wounding happens through living, relational, body-felt experiences and require similar experiences to heal. I create a safe container and relationship for the natural process of healing to occur. Expect to move, breath, and feel... we will not just sit and talk.

I delight in getting to know each person I work with and I strive to reflect back to them their innate goodness. I typically work with those who are navigating life's challenges including recent life changes, grief & loss, anxiety and panic, depression, attachment and relationship difficulties, and symptoms commonly related to trauma. I help clients who are interested in exploring patterns of behavior or unhelpful coping strategies that may be creating challenges in their life. I also love celebrating the transformational changes that take place during sessions.

Waitlist for new clients
Accepting new clients in Tennessee. I'm glad you're reaching out and hope we can work together. I've been an LCSW for 28 years and genuinely love connecting with people to develop skills that find greater stability, serenity and internal strength. Emphasizing strengths and resilience, while understanding larger patterns, working through trauma and developing skills to reduce anxiety, emotional reactions, relationship breakdown, substance abuse and overwhelm. I love building relationships with people to learn practices that can change self defeating patterns and live in a way that is more life giving, open, balanced and stable.

Hello! Thanks for taking the time to visit my website; finding a therapist who is a good match for you is important. For this reason, I'd like to explain a bit about my approach and how I treat a variety of presenting issues. I approach therapy from a client-directed, strengths-based perspective. This means that I view your current situation with curiosity and compassion, from a non-judgmental position. I'll listen to your story and help you remove the barriers to change that exist in your situation. Whenever possible, I use empirically validated models of therapy.

Therapy for individuals, couple, and families. There are times when life is painful and seemingly without answers, yet what seems most broken in us can be a channel for growth, even a source of strength we never knew was possible. My own healing through therapy and mindfulness meditation inspired me to pursue an MA in Integral Counseling Psychology from the California Institute of Integral Studies in San Francisco -- the first program in the world to blend Eastern philosophical and spiritual traditions with Western schools of psychology. Today, I feel honored to support others on their journey toward healing.

Family Therapy

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
