I am so glad you are here. Being here is the first step in your healing journey. And taking that first step is one of the bravest things you can do. I specialize in helping with anxiety, health anxiety, trauma, family dynamics, women’s issues, pre-natal/post-natal, burnout, and substance misuse. In addition to somatic work, I use several other modalities in my practice: Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and mindfulness. Based on my clients’ needs, my modality may vary. Overall, I’ll use a strengths-based holistic approach, catering to each individual’s personal needs and goals.

"I think we can all agree, life is hard! Sometimes the most honest, brave, and difficult thing we can do is reach out for support. Kudos to you for starting this courageous (and maybe scary) process! Needing support does not mean you are weak or broken, it means you are human. My goal as a therapist is to help you feel safe and comfortable bringing your whole, authentic self into our work together. I find using humor, whenever appropriate, helps to disarm fears and facades while building a trusting relationship between client and clinician.

My specialties include: sexuality/gender identity development, LGBTQIA+, emerging adulthood, young adults, trauma, survivors of sexual violence, kink/BDSM, non-traditional relationship and family structures, family of origin concerns, chronic health and pain concerns, sex work(ers), radical fat liberation, and positive body esteem development.
I utilize an eclectic, psychoanalytic, and relational approach while employing a strong racial justice, feminist, and queer theory lens. I practice from a fat-lib, sex-positive, and intersectional feminist perspective. I believe that one's past informs how they interact with and experience the world. Healing takes place as one fosters empathy and consideration for their past and present selves. The therapeutic relationship allows for gaining deeper perspective and understanding of oneself. I strive to build genuine and earnest rapport with my clients by being deeply nonjudgmental and always practicing with respect.

My strengths as a clinician are working with young adults, young couples, and women who have survived traumatic events, including ongoing interpersonal trauma, and who want support to process these experiences in order to show up more fully for their lives in the present. I also really enjoy supporting individuals and couples as they are making transitions in their lives and in their relationships, growing their family, navigating pregnancy and postpartum stages, striving to better integrate their careers and family, and deepening intimacy and connection with each other.

Problems and challenges are real and difficult, but for each of us they may be challenging for different reasons. Sometimes we are stuck in a problem because of the ways in which our past experiences, relationships, traumas, and families have shaped our feelings, thoughts, and physiological reactions. Part of our work together involves creating space for new situations and understandings from which a new solution to a problem can evolve. While sometimes that work is brief, it can take a bit more time when we are looking at lifelong patterns, issues related to family, dynamics, and attachment, or different types of trauma.

My therapeutic orientation focuses on family of origin and how that connects to an individual's patterns, relationships, thoughts, behaviors, and unconscious beliefs about themselves.
Whether you're going through a life transition, struggling in a relationship, or experiencing anxiety, it takes courage to seek help. Regardless of what you're going through, I want you to recognize that your resilience in life has brought you this far. I would like to help you from here by guiding you through this therapeutic process, as it may relate to personal trauma, early life experiences, and/or unhealthy patterns. I will help you unlock old patterns and beliefs about yourself that are no longer serving you or your relationships. I will support you in tapping into a deeper understand of who you are at your core.

I use psychoeducation to help clients understand the ways in which their family dynamics have shaped the way they build relationships.
Are you dealing with life transitions and trying to find yourself? Are you trying to break the cycle and begin the process of learning to be vulnerable and self-reflect? Are you committed to “showing up”? You may have difficulty finding independence in your unhealthy family dynamics and are working on finding a sense of self outside your relationships. You have dealt with anxiety and negative thoughts and no longer want these issues to hold you back.

Therapy is about relationships. Whether we are creating personal healing through the therapeutic relationship, changing the way we interact in romantic partnerships, at work, or with family, or shifting our relationship with trauma and other past wounds, we are creating a new space where empathy and compassion can grow. When you make the choice to begin work in therapy, it is a radical act of love, both for the self and for others, and you can expect our work together to reflect this. I work with clients from all backgrounds, but have particular connection to the LGBTQ+, polyam/CNM, kink, artistic, & neurodiverse communities.

Family Therapy

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
