I believe that every person has the ability to heal and lead satisfying and fulfilling lives. Everyone does the best with what they have and that life presents significant challenges and all of our behaviors makes sense in context. Problems do not exist within one person but are the result of a person’s context, family or relational systems, circular patterns, external systems, and learned behaviors that once had a functional purpose but no longer do. I consider health to be the culmination of mental, physical, spiritual, and relational states, and I will work from this inclusive and holistic perspective.
I work from a trauma-informed, integrated approach, utilizing the solution-focused and emotionally-focused models of therapy. My goal is to work collaboratively with clients toward the positive changes and growth that they want to see in their lives. I do this from a strengths-based, positive reinforcement, and values-oriented perspective.
It take courage and strength to ask for help and deserves to be responded to with validation. We all are dealing with the complexities of life and the unique ways in which individual identities intersect with oppression and privilege, causing diverse presentations of distress. I want this space to foster openness and to be supportive and free of judgement.
