Have you ever wondered what your life would be like if you didn’t have anxiety, depression, or substance abuse problems? I believe that clients carry the seed of their own healing within them. My job as a therapist is to help you find and nurture that healing. I work with clients from teens through the end of life. I have specialized knowledge to work with the chronically ill, as well as additional training in alcohol & drug addiction and/or gambling disorders. I offer both individual and family sessions.

I believe in addressing the emotional, physical, and spiritual needs of the individual, couple, and the family as a whole.
Life is a challenge and navigating through it can be tough sometimes, whether you are dealing with depression, anxiety, stress, loneliness, isolation, grief, and loss issues. You may be going through a transition from one stage of life to the next, and find it hard to manage. Just know that you are not alone therapy is a way to relive that feeling of aloneness and allow you to form a joint relationship with someone you can trust and be yourself with.

When thinking about the life you want, how close are you to that life? Do you feel invalidated or a loss of control with your life? There can be many obstacles in our path. I believe that each person has has a unique story and needs, and whatever your concerns are I prioritize building trust with you and a unique plan based on your needs. ** No openings at this time. Waitlist option available at www.lilyfield.org/counseling ** I believe that we are shaped, but not defined by our experiences, and that having a safe and supportive place to process those experiences can be healing. Humans are built for connection, and my goal is to help clients reach a place where they feel connected to their authentic selves and are able to connect with those who are important to them. I seek to empower my clients by helping them make sense of their history, imagine what a hopeful future might look like, and realize the great resources they already have access to within themselves.

I’m a licensed clinical social worker with a private practice in Oklahoma City. (please refer to other profile for more details). I wanted a secondary profile to provide information about another aspect of my services - Divorce Management. As our society has become more complicated by the ever-changing economy and increased use of technology, our traditional concept of love, marriage, and raising children has caused weakening of family ties and more focus on adult satisfaction. Divorce has become normalized as an alternative to ‘sticking it out for the sake of the family’.

I am a Licensed Marital and Family Therapist at Turning Point Counseling.
Reaching out for help is not a weakness or proof that something is broken. Instead, it takes courage and is rooted in hope. My passion is to tap into and foster the very hope and courage that brings people into therapy. From a family systems perspective, I work within the context of relationships such as couples, parent/child, siblings or other interpersonal relationships. I believe a safe and trusting therapeutic relationship is crucial to helping others find solutions and achieve their goals.

As a marital and family therapist, I am specifically trained in couples therapy.
I help individuals and couples go from struggling with overwhelming distress to practicing a more authentic and a more peaceful life. Trauma and chronic stress can have such a disturbing impact on our relationships with our self and others. However, we do not need to feel alone in our struggles.

Trying to recover from addiction or mental illness on your own is tremendously difficult. This is true for not only the one with the disorder, but for each family member who may feel desperate for change. You probably feel like you have exhausted yourself trying to recover or to help someone recover, but no positive change seems to last. Although reaching out for help is hard, the willingness to engage in counseling with an experienced therapist can give you the push you need and provide you with tools you would not have access to if you continue try to use the same ineffective strategies to solve the problems on your own.

If you are seeking ways to build bridges and mend relationships, then finding a counselor that works for you and your family is a great first step! I believe that we are all designed for connection – to be seen, to be heard, and to feel safe.
Life experiences impact how we see, perceive, and interact with the world around us. When these experiences are traumatic or even just difficult in nature, sometimes it helps to seek out someone who can help you discover the tools needed to mend or create new paths back into healthy relationships. Play is the language of children. In my daily work with children and their families, I find that play often builds bridges where words fall short.

Family Therapy

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
