Navigating life's most challenging moments requires empathy, support, and a gentle guiding hand. I specialize in aiding individuals coping with grief, significant life transitions, or the complexities of terminal/chronic illness. My aim is to foster a safe and nurturing space where healing, growth, and resilience can flourish. I enjoy working with adults of all ages, particularly those in mid-life and older as they navigate life’s transitions, including adult children leaving/returning to the family home, retirement, downsizing, chronic or life altering illness, and death and non-death losses.

I have worked as a consultant to a special program for individuals who have a history of sexual assault and violence as well as family violence and, in addition, have taught for 15 + years at Fordham University Graduate School of Social Service. I have worked successfully with relationship difficulties, employment difficulties as well as with those with a history of PTSD, mood disorders and marital conflict.

I primarily specialize working with patients using CBT, DBT, internal family system, ACT, inner child therapy, and solution-focused therapy.
I have experience working with a wide range of patients from young children to older adults. I approach therapy from a patient-focused and strengths-based lens, believing that each individual has the capacity to overcome life's challenges when it comes to all areas of work, relationships, and family. Additionally, growing up in a Chinese (Fujianese) immigrant family in America, I understand the impact of generational trauma and cultural identity struggles that first generational individuals and people of color may deal with. I work with patients and within the community to mend and grow from these experiences.

During 10+ years as a therapist, I have helped individuals and families with issues relating to stress, depression, anxiety, grief, relationships, trauma, communication, family conflicts, and cultural identity.
Are you ready to learn to be more confident and assertive in your life? Do you describe yourself as a “people pleaser?” Have difficulty saying “no” and often putting others first? Do you neglect your own needs, have difficulty setting healthy boundaries, and end up feeling guilty, depressed and anxious? Are negative thoughts keeping you up at night? If you answered “yes” to these questions, then you are ready to find your voice, and reclaim your personal power. You’ve decided that it’s finally time to make a positive change in your life.

Family Therapy
What do family therapists do?
A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.
How long does therapy for families take to work?
Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.
How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?
You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.
Is therapy for families effective?
Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
