As member of a law enforcement/military family, I recognize the unique challenges faced by first responder families.
Life happens, let's talk about it. I believe in creating a safe, client-centered space without shame or judgment. Being able to share your worries and concerns with a neutral third party allows us to redefine boundaries and priorities we might not have been able to otherwise. If you are struggling with issues in your marriage, career, friendships, or families, I am confident I can help you sift through what feels like the rubble of trauma and rebuild the best version of you.

Some of the tools I use to guide the process are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Grief Therapy, Family Systems, Life Stages, Relational, Somatic Experiencing, Faith Based and Play Therapy.
I love the collaborative and creative work of therapy. I see my role, not only as a trained practitioner of clinical modalities, but also as one of a midwife or gardener. I believe each of us has the wisdom of what we need to heal within us. It is not my job to teach you how to be a better person or to become whole . . . our work in therapy is to help you remember that you are and always have been—whole. Together we compost the trauma of the past and rotate, turn it, and bring it to light so that it can fertilize the soil for growth. I work with children, families, couples, and individuals of all ages.

My ideal client is someone dealing with stressors in life, depression, anxiety, and family conflict. I work well with clients who set boundaries, are goal-oriented, and are willing to do the homework. I want to be there for someone who needs support when they feel isolated or to help them see a different perspective. I have a strong faith and understand how this is important to those who believe in God so I would like to work with clients seeking Christian counseling but I am open and respectful to all who need help. Additionally, I have experience working with the community and know the struggles life can bring.

I train and supervise therapists, served on the Nevada Board of Marriage and Family Therapist Examiners, and am a licensed psychologist.
My interest is in helping people make significant positive changes in their lives. We have designed an especially attractive office and now added telehealth. Not only do I provide traditional counseling and therapy for individuals of all ages and families, but I also offer services to achieve optimal performance and wellness. Whenever appropriate, these services are complimented with the use of innovative technologies. For example, since 1992 I have used EEG biofeedback for brain training to manage attention and memory difficulties, migraine headaches, head injures, addictions, pain, depression, and anxiety.

I believe everyone can benefit from therapy. Therapy is a space where you can safely explore your deepest emotions and scariest thoughts, learn and practice new skills, and find additional resources. I can support you as you grow into the version of yourself you feel most proud to be. I can help you grow as an individual, improve your relationship as a couple, or help break unhealthy cycles in your family. I also work with divorced/separated couples who are co-parenting - this can be really difficult work, but it's so important for the health of your children and family in the long-run! Whatever your goals are for therapy, it takes

My trauma-informed focus aims to help individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, Women’s health issues, family & relationship trauma, life transitions, and chronic and/or terminal illness.
Are you tired of just tolerating life instead of really living it? Does it feel like no one can understand, and that you've just been through too much? Sometimes life hands us experiences that are painful and overwhelming. Difficult experiences can make us feel overburdened and isolated. Often, what we need is a listening ear, to know that someone cares, and to understand that we are not alone. Are you ready to find the relief and healing you've been missing? You deserve to find your peace and wholeness again, and you don't have to do it alone.

As a marriage and family therapy intern, I developed a passion for helping individuals through attachment, family, infidelity, relationship, self-esteem, and trauma needs. I have been working with clients for over a year and hope to continue helping my clients through any of their life experiences. I believe that individuals are the experts of their own lives, and when put to the test, they need to reach towards their inner strengths to persevere. However, that does not need to be done alone.

Though I am beginning my practice in marriage and family therapy, I have 20 years experience working with persons with disabilities from youth to adults in multitude of settings and dynamics.
Fundamentally I believe in meeting a client where he, she, or they are at in the moment. Knowing where a client is followed by learning where they want go in personal development. Working with clients to help them along their journey to that goal. Sometimes goals change, or circumstances emerge that alter a path. Transitioning to new goals or paths, or after bump in the road or derailment getting back on track is not easy. Everyone needs support to help through transitions and hurdles. One of the most difficult things a person does is ask for help –walking through the door the first time.

Family Therapy

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
