Most often I work with individuals and families who struggle with anxiety, depression, grief, adjustment disorders, life transitions, parenting and family issues, stress & anger management, health & wellness and school & work issues.
Please note that I am only available for day time appointments. "You may not control all the events that happen to you, but you can decide not to be reduced by them" -Maya Angelou, Letter to My Daughter. We all have weaknesses we can make into strengths. Life is about finding the things we can control and focusing on making changes in those areas. My goal is to guide my clients in the direction of what they have control of and help them make the positive changes in those areas.

I am trained in Brainspotting, a powerful brain-body processing therapy, and am trained in Internal Family Systems.
During times of stress and uncertainty, it may be difficult to get through the day, go to work, or be present with your loved ones. On top of that, these uncertain times can trigger anxiety, overwhelming emotions, and cause us to feel "stuck". Therapy provides an opportunity to find hope for the future, find joy and happiness, stability, and a sense of meaning or purpose in a rapidly changing world. I believe that everyone deserves a nonjudgmental, compassionate, and empathetic therapeutic experience.

I am informed in Internal Family Systems Therapy, an evidenced-based practice that believes the mind is naturally made up of "parts" that each take on a different role and wounded parts that are burdened with feelings like guilt, shame or anger.
Are you a self-aware person who, despite all that awareness, still feel "off?" Still feel anxious, irritable, or depressed? Maybe you've done therapy in the past but it didn't work for you. If you find that you are struggling in interpersonal relationships or with family dynamics, I could be a good fit for you. If you are ready to do the work, to learn to sit with the discomfort that change can often bring, I could be the therapist for you. I enjoy working with early and middle-age adults, first-generation immigrants, and new parents/postpartum mothers.

Family Therapy

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
