When I’m not being a therapist, I enjoy spending time with my friends and family, reading, watching movies, and being outdoors when the weather is nice.
Throughout my life, schooling, and work as a therapist, I’ve learned a lot about people and the importance of connection. I believe in the power relationships can have in the healing process, so I not only enjoy working with families, couples, and individuals to improve their relationships and individual functioning, but I also strive to be someone with whom my clients can have a strong connection. My belief is that such a client-therapist relationship gives space for vulnerability and promotes change.

Life has a way of letting us know when it is time to reach out. Are you feeling overwhelmed, burdened, stressed, and ready for change, but not sure where to begin? Do you feel you have more to offer, but feel stuck? Then counseling is the right setting to have a conversation that may open doors to problem solving and provide tools for guidance. Growing up working in the family restaurant and being active as a student athlete, I didn't have the tools to manage the stress around me. While I was helping others to perform as a personal trainer, I knew I needed to become a counselor to help in a more wholistic way.

My training in marriage and family therapy helps me work well with couples and families in therapy; however, roughly 60% of the clients I see are individuals.
I provide strength-based therapy for individuals, couples, and families who experience difficulties coping, depression, anxiety, mood disorders, difficulties adjusting, and low levels of self-worth. I utilize a cognitive-behavioral therapeutic approach to assist in setting goals, applying strengths, and finding new ways to cope with stressors. I've worked in both medical and agency settings with a consistent effort to treat the mind and body as a holistic unit.

I am trained in CBT, family systems theory, DBT, and overall consider myself a well rounded clinician that takes the time to get to know a clients experience to help them reach a better understanding of themselves and assist people to become the best versions of themselves.
Hello there. I have a diverse clinical background and am here to help. I have worked for agencies who specialize in in-home therapy with children and their parents. I have worked with children of all ages and am passionate about helping young people and their parents navigate their challenges. Navigate their difficult journeys. I use a practical solutions focused and CBT approach and don't genuinely believe that children need to be in therapy for years at a time. With the right tools and resources in place, children will do amazing things! Additionally, I have experience with complex bi-polar and schizophrenia in adults.

I have experience working with individuals, women and their families, who are impacted with mental health symptoms such as anxiety, executive processing challenges or ADHD, maternal mental health and strained relationships with family.
At some point during our life I believe that we have all wanted to hear "it's ok", "me too", to be supported or reinforced through challenging times. I enjoy working with women who have been impacted with anxiety, broken love languages, executive functioning difficulties, cyclical issues surrounding their monthly cycle, maternal mental health, as well as, those who just need someone to talk to. I believe that in our society we have too many pressures of judgment and I strive to provide a free environment. An environment free from judgement, free from stress, and a place to find your best sense of self.

I have experience working with individuals and family members within the LGBTQ+ community.
I believe, often life can feel “out of balance” and we are unsure of what to do. Sometimes we feel stuck, unable to reach a goal—or sometimes we struggle to even know what our goals are. This is where counseling can be helpful. I work with my clients to understand where they are at, and how they experience life. Together, we work to build a path toward change.

If you find yourself asking, "How did my family get to this point?!" you may have found your therapist. I get it...you've read the books, googled countless therapists, trying to find anything in an effort to restore sanity and connection to your chaotic family. Whether you dread the evening battles and meltdowns, fear how closed off your teen is becoming, or you don't know how to close the distance between you and your partner, hope for a better tomorrow is a conversation away. As a "wounded healer", I offer a no-nonsense, transparent, and direct but compassionate approach to bring a new perspective and hope.

Family Therapy

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
