“This world is becoming crazier every day!” While that seems to be true locally to globally, the chaos within does not have to rival that which besieges us. Truth is, we need to learn to manage ourselves in healthful ways despite The Crazy. Optimal mental, emotional, and relational health help us develop into better versions of ourselves. We can improve depression, anxiety, decision-making, goal-setting, and adjusting to change. Identifying resources for growth, enhancing authenticity, honesty, perspective, self-awareness, strengths, & vulnerability may increase confidence, satisfaction, & fulfillment. I believe that we have to be able to live and deal with stress and issues in the present to achieve success, joy and peace that we seek. Life situations and/or Mental Illness can keep these from happening. Having that neutral person to be a support person can be what's needed . My specialty focus lies in dealing with Depression, ADHD, Marriage Therapy, Anxiety, Infant loss, and Trauma. I have experience with kids, adolescents and adults. Approaches used are (CBT, Psychodynamic Therapy, Gottman Method and Play Therapy) effective with children, adolescents and adults.

I am trained and experienced in EMDR for the reprocessing of painful memories and traumatic events. Disillusionment and suffering are inevitable parts of every life. Wounding from the past has a way of rearing its head when you least expect it, creating anxiety, depression, relational difficulties and much more. God has always been in the business of redeeming broken things, and that means restoration is possible for you! I work with families, adolescents, and children ages 3 and up. I am in the process of becoming certified in Child-centered Play Therapy, Relationship Enhancement Therapy, and Trauma-Informed Practices. I am not limited to these models and will use what is most beneficial to my clients. My ideal client(s) will have some idea of what they hope to get out of therapy and be open to sharing their experiences with me so that I can understand their experiences and help them reach their treatment goals.

I see counseling as an effective collaborative working relationship based on mutual trust and respect. I was born and raised in Germany and have successfully worked with clients from diverse cultural backgrounds over the years. Cultural sensitivity is therefore very important to me. Prior to moving to Kentucky, I practiced counseling in Wisconsin and Minnesota since 2005 at various clinical settings, such as outpatient mental health clinics and in private practice. As your therapist, my goal is to empower your inherent strengths and abilities. I use a person-centered approach to guide sessions based on your priorities, concerns, and goals. Rather than focusing on the negative, I prefer to highlight my clients' strengths and successes. I believe that each of my clients has a unique perspective with their own intersectional identities, so I view my clients as the experts of their own experiences.
