My clinical interests include traumas in early development, perfectionism, eating disorders and body image concerns, family dynamics, relationship functioning, identity development, medical conditions, life transitions, and challenges with self esteem.
I approach clients with genuine curiosity, respect, and acceptance. I believe psychotherapy to be a vessel through which you can gain a deeper and fuller understanding of who you are and how you interact with the world. I view each therapy as shaped by the unique partnership between therapist and the client. It is through this partnership that you can begin to trust your emotional experiences, learn new ways of communicating, identify wants and needs, develop insight into your past and present, and clarify what is important and meaningful to you.

Is your anxiety preventing you (or your child) from being who you (or they) want to be? Wish you or your child could just get over it? If it was only that simple. Sometimes we just need someone who can give us the tools to not be crippled with anxiety. Anxiety is a necessary part of life, but shouldn't interfere. You're not looking for someone to just talk to on an ongoing basis; that's what your friends and family are for (and you don't need to pay them!) I'm going to help you get in and out of my office feeling "cured" as quickly as we can so that you can save money and be who you want to be.

My interests include (but are not limited to) the treatment of depression, anxiety, trauma, eating disorders, identity development, family discord, relationship challenges, sexual concerns, and life transitions.
I believe that we all have an inherent need to feel connected, seen, and understood and that is often where the growth, relief, and healing begins. My clinical work is based on a dynamic and relational approach that works collaboratively with clients to gain an understanding of how early experiences underlie behaviors, thoughts, feelings, and explore ways to connect with others. My approach is grounded in a social justice, sex-positive, and anti-oppressive lens, that posits an understanding of how systems of power and privilege manifest in individuals’ lives and impact individuals' ability to heal.

Family Therapy
What do family therapists do?
A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.
How long does therapy for families take to work?
Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.
How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?
You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.
Is therapy for families effective?
Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
