My clinical expertise focuses on trauma, attachment, relationship dynamics, depression, anxiety, and family systems.
Whether this is your first time in therapy, or you’re looking for someone new, my goal is to help you through life’s challenges. I work with adolescents, young adults, adults, and families to help them overcome the barriers that keep them stuck in unhelpful cycles. I understand the ways in which guilt and shame can keep us paralyzed and have the necessary tools and clinical skill set to help guide you through life difficulties. I firmly believe that people have the answers within themselves, but it often takes the therapeutic alliance to help work through problems and guide the person to resolutions and self-realization.

I work with individuals who are experiencing anxiety around the feeling that you’re not doing or being enough… Not doing enough for your family, your work, your friendships, and yourself. Oh, and let’s add a side of guilt to that feeling! You are a person that many people rely on, and you don't want to fail them or yourself. Many of my clients are mothers, adult kids of aging parents, caregivers, perfectionists, codependency, leaders, and high achievers. I also work with feelings of anxiety, stress, grief, depression, fear, and general feelings of discomfort because your feelings are too messy and intertwined to clearly identify.

I use a strengths-based approach to enhance skills you already use, mixed with evidence-based therapies like EMDR, IFS, DBT, ACT, CBT, family systems, and a feminist/queer/decolonized/anti-oppressive lens.
Sometimes our challenges overwhelm our typical ways of dealing with difficulties. Therapy can help to enhance competence, peace, strength, healing, and acceptance. My style is creative, collaborative, directive. I help you to access hope and visualize healing, empowering you to confront the biggest, baddest wolves in your life, when you're ready. I specialize in treating problems rooted in intense experiences. Sometimes what we learn to do to survive ends up creating problems for us later on. We'll work together to uncover what is holding you back and develop skills you need to live a rich, full life.

My experience has allowed me to work with people from all over the world with both chronic and minor mental health concerns. As a clinician I have worked with people who have depression, anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorders, (PTSD)trauma and a history of family violence. My approach is primarily cognitive behavioral with a significant emphasis on the person's present. Those who would benefit are people who are looking at moving forward with their life with more deliberation and direction. Moving away from seeing themselves as the result of their circumstances but as the master of their being.

My passion is working with youth and young adults, especially those experiencing life transitions, family and relationship conflict, anxiety, and depression.
I understand how overwhelming the process of finding a therapist can be. I understand the discouragement felt when your therapist isn’t the right fit. My approach to therapy is down to earth and humanistic. I recognize that everyone is having their own authentic and imperfect experience which cannot be judged, and the way I treat every client mirrors that. My core belief is that everyone deserves to be heard.

I work to assist you in unpacking family history, learn about your attachment style, explore your love languages and help you and your partner/s redefine your relationships with new insight, excitement and appreciation for one another.
Relationships are challenging and trauma, depression, anxiety, PTSD, worry, shame and guilt are just some of the things that can hinder you from not only achieving a healthy relationship but also being the best version of yourself. As a Couples and Family therapist I help individuals, couples and families achieve relationship satisfaction, gain a deeper understanding of self and each other and heal from wounds that are negatively impacting the ability to heal. I believe that each individual in a relationship has their own individual thoughts and beliefs that are impacted by childhood and the families we are born into.

¡Hola! First of all, I commend you. It takes courage to take the steps to care for your mental health. As a proud Latinx woman, I understand the stigma that comes with engaging in mental wellness services in our community. The truth is, there is nothing to be ashamed of. We can all benefit from some support every once in a while. Most importantly, you don't have to do it alone.

Family Therapy

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
