As a man and a father, you never expected to need to ask for help. Yet, life has become particularly tough. It’s hard to talk about, but the worrying and emotional ups and downs have made it hard to find enjoyment in life. Your spouse has pointed out that you are moody and seem different. You’ve had enough of this, though, and are ready for a change. Not just for your family, but for yourself, too. You might not know where to start, but you won't let that hold you back. While getting to work can be hard, you are committed to your family, and are ready to get started.

It is important to me to provide non-judgmental, culturally humble, trauma-informed therapy using a focus on attachment, interpersonal process, and an understanding of unhealthy systems (family, work, society, etc).
I often work with people who are experiencing sadness, frustration, anxiety, loneliness, and loss of meaning in their lives. Sometimes they know the cause of their feelings but many times they do not. Developing an awareness, understanding, and compassion for one's lived experience can help heal the pain causing our feelings. The work I do with clients often focuses on emotion and trauma. (Gottman-certified couples' therapist).

I specialize in the areas of depression, anxiety, phobias, obsessions, marriage and family problems, work related problems and last but not least childres issues including ADD and ADHD.
I have been in the profession of helping people for 36 years. It is my approach to treat the whole person not just the symptoms. In that regard we begin a process that resolves not only the symptoms they present to me, but returns to them the feeling of being alive and in command of their own lives in a fashion that allows them to have healthy relationships, function well in their jobs and work, and have a positive sense of themselves.

Hello! My goal as a counselor is to offer support to children and their families during difficult times. I use play and creative interventions to help children and adolescents make sense of their worlds and express themselves. I help clients identify their feelings and express their needs in their own way and then work with people in the child’s life (ex: family and teachers) to help them continue to express themselves outside of the playroom.

I want to help you free yourself from emotional pain, and find meaning and purpose in work, your relationships, your family, or any area of your life that you find important.
You can absolutely have the life that you’re hoping for and I’d love to help you get there. We all have tools to be able to thrive but they’re hard to recognize when we are dealing with so much. Sometimes we need someone we trust to help us discover ourselves and learn how to manage life in new ways. At times this is hard and even painful but it doesn’t have to be. I’ll do everything I can to help you feel safe and comfortable so you’re able to share your story with me and we’ll explore together.

Hi! I am glad you are here. Some of my clients come to therapy feeling overwhelmed by their emotional experience or completely disconnected from themselves. I often see deep-seated shame that is blocking growth. I also see clients who benefit from processing difficult events or relationships from their past, and we often explore the emotional impact of negative family dynamics, which can be influencing current functioning in relationships with self and others. Folks may have a sense of existential dread wondering who they are in this world as they may not have had the space to be fully themselves in a safe, supportive environment.

Working with a trauma-informed lens, I use various approaches including IFS (internal family system) and Gestalt therapy to help you explore and understand your internal struggles and presenting issues.
We all, at some point in life, feel lost, stuck, overwhelmed, and want to feel peaceful again. I believe peace comes from a more integrated self, and I will support you to explore your self, bring more awareness and compassion to those parts of you that contain the hard feelings, and facilitate more acceptance within them. I work with trauma, including childhood trauma, other complex and acute trauma, anxiety, depression, intergenerational relationships, and insomnia

Whether in your social, family, or intimate relationships, if you find yourself feeling disconnected, hurt, and unable to get your needs met despite trying your best, or struggling to break out of patterns, an objective and professional perspective can help.
My international education and lived experiences have informed my approach to therapy that centers your personal and cultural values. I have expertise and a passion for helping those who feel held back from living the life you want because your anxious thoughts have too much power or take up too much time. Sometimes these thoughts may be so obsessive yet difficult to share with anyone because they don't align with who you are - the very fact that they cross your mind can feel scary, weird, or embarrassing. I will help you confront and overcome them while using humor and being real with you in the process.

After 11 years of working with teens in the school system, I have had firsthand experience supporting youth with their academic performance and development of healthy family dynamics through life skills training.
I simply want to say, “I am here”. I am here to listen to your unique story. No matter the twist and turns in your life journey, I want you to know that I hear you. Together we can write a new chapter, one that is more to your liking. You don’t need to be saved; you are the hero, the champion, the victor in your narrative. As a student of systems theory, I believe that nobody lives in a vacuum. We act and react to those around us, just as they do with us. This beautiful blending of souls is where tranquility is found.

As a school counselor for 20+ years, I know the challenges of childhood/adolescence. Children are survivors of grief and trauma. They experience family changes and friendship worries. They may learn or socialize differently. Children sometimes feel anxious or depressed and their emotions may significantly impact behaviors. Often these challenges interfere with children's school success and stability at home. Through intentional care and child friendly therapeutic strategies, my goal is to help children thrive through it all. Utilizing play, art, games, and bibliotherapy, children can learn to feel safe sharing their thoughts, understanding their emotions and regulating their behaviors.

I take an integrative approach to counseling, utilizing Family Systems and Narrative Counseling because I believe in validating your unique perspective that there is no one universal truth and we are all part a greater context.
Hi! How we view and tell our stories makes up how we live our lives, and I am here to honor your story. My foundational work with sexual trauma and interpersonal violence showed me that warmth and authenticity are two critical elements that I will prioritize in our therapeutic space, and through that, we can explore anything you feel comfortable bringing. We will discuss your identities and how they intersect and influence your narrative.

Family Therapy

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
