Welcome. Feeling overwhelmed, lost, exhausted, or confused? My therapeutic approach focuses on increasing understanding and awareness in the present moment to help meet life's obstacles and challenges. It is my belief that becoming more fully present moves through barriers to well-being and can open pathways to inner understanding. Working in the present with thoughts, feelings and emotions, we uncover the past and discover our connections to family and community. My work focuses on spirituality and existential considerations, relationships, family of origin patterns and history, trauma, sexuality, and gender exploration.

With family therapy, I work with you to identify areas for growth and opportunity to promote more stable, connected and attuned familial relationships.
The first step on the path to healing can be the hardest. Often times, we feel fragile, whether it be from past trauma, debilitating depression, anxiety, conflictual relationships, and the overall stresses attributed to life. Sometimes we feel surrounded by people who look but do not see us, hear but do not listen or understand which can lead you to feel isolated, disconnected, and misunderstood. Therapy is a space to navigate this desolate plane, a place to help you achieve a more fruitful and fulfilling connection with yourself and others. I have experience working with couples, individuals and families.

Wilderness therapy embraces a relational and transpersonal approach to healing and recovery. Relying on the inherent interconnectedness of all living things, interest within this evidenced-based discipline has generated a variety of modalities for serving individuals who seek to uncover a deeper understanding of their own "wild" and genuine spirit. I have found my own personal healing to be intimately connected to spending time in nature, and it is here that I believe that we can all begin to rediscover our intrinsic humanity and let go of those things that distract us from our higher selves.

Crossing the bridge from teenager to young adult can be extraordinarily overwhelming. You have your parents to manage, college work to keep up with, social standards to maintain, friendships to make, and self-care is not really part of the picture. On top of that, nobody really talks about just how stressful “finding yourself” would be. With a therapist, you don’t have to face these challenges alone. Therapy can inspire you to redefine just exactly how you want to grow up, and you who want to grow up to be. In my practice, I've supported countless young women move through their pain and find healing along the way.

Transitions are hard. There is often so much shame around trying to figure out who we are and asking for what we want. Am I going to burden others? Am I too much for people if I ask for something that I desire? Am I being "selfish"? Who am I to "demand" others for things I don't think I "deserve"? If these are some of the questions you have asked yourself, then I'm here to help. It's okay to feel lost, like you're wandering the woods alone. I'm here for you so we can wander these woods together.

Most people need help at various times in their lives navigating difficult experiences. My approach is collaborative, action-oriented and positive with individuals and couples. When relevant, I incorporate somatic (body) approaches, including EMDR and Brainspotting modalities to working with anxiety, phobias, trauma and other issues. My practice also includes the option of "walking and talking" outdoors. I am influenced by IFS / IFIO (parts work), self-compassion, feminist, and polyvagal approaches. I help clients connect more deeply with the past and address barriers to well-being in the present.

Currently only offering telehealth sessions. I come from the view that in a therapeutic relationship, trust, respect, and openness are essential. Life is full of unexpected events, tumultuous relationships, changes and transitions, and confusion with making the right choices for our lives and families. These events cannot be avoided, but I believe that humans have an incredible capacity for adapting to these things as they come our way. I am here to walk alongside you through the ups and downs in a safe and comfortable environment.

Family Therapy

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
