My name is Erica and I am Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) who has over 14 years of clinical experience working with children and teens, as well as adult individuals and couples. I focus on treating issues related to anxiety, chronic stress, ADHD, family difficulties, dysfunctional relationships, depression, panic disorders, and more.

I work with a broad clientele including children ages 10+, adults, families, and couples. Anxiety disorders are a strong interest of mine. I like to collaboratively identify multiple interventions with clients who have goals related to diminishing and managing anxious symptoms. Building a trusting relationship is also important. Ideally, clients will recognize that they have a strong ally in me. I appreciate working with clients interested in learning more about their diagnosis and related symptoms, exploring how they influence them personally and inter-personally, and generally educating themselves about their mental health.

I see individuals as capable of living a full and joyful life. I am here to facilitate the removal of those blocks, caused by past traumas, and / or difficult life transitions, that might be getting in your way. I provide outpatient therapy services to children and adolescents using various trauma-informed treatment modalities. I assist children and adolescent populations with managing daily stressors, processing unresolved trauma, grief and loss, strengthening parent-child relationships, improving self-esteem, and managing depressive and anxiety symptoms. Using a person-centered approach, I focus on building a strong rapport with the client, which establishes safety and promotes the client to have a sense of control in their treatment process.

Overwhelmed students and young adults often wonder, “Will someone have the experience to help me through this without making me feel even worse than I do about the way things have turned out?” or “ If I can just get through these next crucial years everything might be ok, but for now I am not sure how or even if that can happen.” 13-24 year olds are faced with a challenging game of constant decision making, competitive peer environments, and finish lines that appear to move further away. Families and loved ones also get swept up in the pressure of watching young people in their lives encounter diverse and time sensitive obstacles.

I enjoy working with children, adolescents, and adults who are experiencing difficulties such as anxiety, depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, behavioral problems, and social concerns. I use a cognitive-behavioral treatment approach, with family and school consultation as important components of the treatment. Consultation with physicians, psychiatrists, and other treatment providers is also welcomed. I believe in using a collaborative problem-solving approach in which we work as a team to develop an intervention plan.

No matter who you are, life is hard. The difficulties of day-to-day life often put us in a bind: On one hand, the stressors are too big and too painful to ignore. And yet, while we may wish for and even utilize the support of those around us, for a whole host of reasons, we often resort to going it alone. In these moments, therapy can be a promising new option: a confidential relationship rooted in honesty, understanding, and compassion. It is my belief that such a relationship can provide a fresh start: a new orientation towards our problems and a new way of experiencing the world we live in.

I've engaged in mental health services approximately 15 years and have been counseling about 8 years. I am a solution focused therapist that utilizes a person centered approach. I am trained in EMDR for relief of trauma and both behavioral and psychodynamic/talking therapies which emphasize positive habits, good health and personal insight. Any change starts from within and sometimes we all need another perspective to grasp the whole picture so that problems or obstacles can be sensibly, sensitively and effectively handled. I work from a strengths-based orientation whereby the talents, skills, and interests can be identified. So we go from there, to where the individual learns to utilize those strengths in resolving problems, conflicts, stressors as well as finding sources of comfort, competence and confidence.

First and foremost I want to praise you for taking the first step in making a positive change in your life (as I'm well aware this is NOT easy)! Here are issues/concerns I best target that can help along your journey: anger control, anxiety, blended family issues, depression, low self-esteem/worth, lying/manipulative, miscommunication, negative thinking, oppositional defiant, parenting, peer/sibling conflict, and the inability to see perspectives different from their own.
