Virginia Support Services is a State Licensed Mental Health Skill-Building Service program that provides behavioral and mental health training and support services to individuals with mental, behavioral, or emotional impairments in major life activities by supporting an individual's level of functioning and promoting his/her autonomy. We service individuals age 16 and up with a mental health diagnosis of Major Depressive Disorder-recurrent, Bipolar Disorder, Schizophrenia or other psychotic disorder, a history of higher level of psychiatric care such as hospitalization, residential treatment or ICT/PACT, prescribed Rx therapy.

I am currently a Supervisee of Social Work with over 21 years of experience working with adults, children and couples. I have a vast knowledge of mental health as it relates to individuals, disadvantaged populations, groups and couples. My specialty also surrounds social work, child protective services, Foster care juvenile justice systems and special education. My Job is My Passion, My Ministry. I too have experienced difficult life situations, trauma and grief. I didn’t start my life with all of these titles. I had to work hard for each one of them. Our agency has considerable experience with trauma, serious mental illness, and holistic treatment methods. We are also experienced in servicing children, offering play based counseling and art based therapies.

We have expanded and are currently accepting new counseling patients. Autism testing with the ADOS beginning in January 2024. We have added to the team and can now see ages 5 and up for verbal and Art Therapy. Still seeing individuals for diagnostic testing, Parental Capacity Evals, and ADHD testing. Wait times are less than 1 month. My first rule of therapy you must laugh every session. Laughter truly is the best medicine.

I work holistically incorporating mind, body, and spirit. My background includes training in Hakomi Body-Centered Psychotherapy which focuses on felt present experience of the body to access core material of the psyche. I provide virtual and phone sessions.
