I love working with individuals and families and have been for 8 years in the New River Valley in a wide variety of roles. My approach is tailored for each client, situation and goal to find what works best for each unique individual. I use an eclectic approach and embrace a person-centered philosophy to best meet my client's needs and take joy in helping others explore and achieve personal goals to live a healthier and happier life.

Tara Lineberry is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Virginia and has over 15 years of experience assisting children, adolescents, adults, and couples with mental health, relationship, and trauma concerns. She completed her Bachelor of Science in Human Development/Human Services from Virginia Tech and received her Master of Social Work from the University of Southern California. Tara has experience conducting therapeutic sessions in both the inpatient psychiatric and outpatient mental health settings.

Today's adults and kids are more connected and busier than ever, yet also feel stuck, unfulfilled, and sometimes lonely. A busy life doesn’t always mean we feel seen and heard. Luke Hummel is a Licensed Professional Counselor providing outpatient counseling to individuals in Lynchburg, VA and the surrounding area. Luke has experience working with a diverse clientele of adolescents and adults, addressing various needs including depression, anxiety, trauma, relational problems, and grief.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and Certified Substance Abuse Counselor Supervisee with over 20 years of experience helping adults and children to improve their wellbeing and enhance their quality of life. I offer individual, family or group therapy for adults experiencing depression, anxiety, grief, post-traumatic stress disorder and substance use disorder. I also offer individual or group therapy for children ages 5-17 years old experiencing anxiety, depression, conduct disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, mood disorder and trauma.

I offer individual therapy for adults and adolescents, with a primary focus and expertise on those that are currently struggling with anxiety, addiction, depression, grief, and trauma. Other areas of expertise include family conflict, difficult life transitions, career/vocational issues, and challenges unique to men during this season.

I have a special interest in working with individuals struggling with family relational issues, trauma/PTSD, body image/eating disorders, and anxiety/depression. I help clients overcome tough generational patterns that are hard to break and often stem from one's family of origin. Many of my clients have been through some form of trauma and are in need of a supportive presence to help them process their pain and validate their feelings. No matter your reason for counseling, my goal is to help you grow and restore a greater sense of empowerment and peace to your life.

Each of us come with a unique set of life experiences. My professional experience is reflected in a variety of settings including trauma-work, depression, anxiety, life transitions, attachment, pre-marital counseling, marriage counseling, and family counseling. If there is one thing you should know about what I believe it’s this: context matters! It matters because it provides meaning to the social, cultural, and environmental factors that influence the life of every human.

As a Cross Cultural individual who grew up in Asia, I am fluent in English, Cantonese, and conversational Mandarin. I have years of experience working with children in multiple settings and in multiple countries. I completed clinical training in SYMBIS premarital counseling, Gottman Method Couples Therapy (Level 1), TBRI for children from hard places, ASIST suicide prevention, and CBASP intervention for chronic depression. Currently, I am currently a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and a Licensed Professional Counselor. I am also working towards becoming a Registered Play Therapist.

My work is centered around helping families, couples, and individuals nurture their relationships, break unhealthy behavioral cycles, and work through their struggles. I focus on trauma, family and relationship history, and I help my clients uncover new levels of self awareness. I have experience working with individuals who carry a variety of hardships ranging from depression, to anxiety, anger management, bipolar disorder, low self-esteem, minorities/immigrants struggling with identity confusion, individuals suffering with eating disorders, and more.

It is my passion and life work to help people achieve their goals and dreams. Sometimes life gets in the way of this and it is easy to get off track. I believe that the right counselor can make a difference in the life of anyone struggling mentally and emotionally.

I coach women and adolescent girls 16+ who struggle with people pleasing, fixer syndrome, and perfectionism to build emotional wellness skills to tackle unhealthy relationships that trigger anxiety and depression. I teach research based skills to help you overcome cycles of toxic relationships, family drama, codependency, rescue syndrome, self-doubt, and burn out. I understand the stress of feeling consumed by life and overbearing relationships. I can relate to life feeling too much, relationships feeling burdensome and overwhelmingly exhausting, wanting to leave everything, everyone behind and disappear. I'm here to support you.

I hold an M.A. in Human Services, Marriage and Family Counseling, and Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Liberty University and am a Resident in Counseling. Currently, I am pursuing a Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision. My counseling approach is tailored to each client's specific needs. I incorporate multicultural and creative arts with an eclectic approach to counseling to address each client's needs. I am also trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing).
