Persons seek therapy when they experience stress, conflict, or loss that cause unhappiness and reduce effectiveness. They are affected negatively by pressure and problems at work, family, and relationships. Individuals come into therapy with their own particular needs shaped by disappointments and failures in some aspect of living in their world. With my guidance, together we create a treatment program which addresses their specific concerns. My approach is interpersonal, supportive and direct. I focus on helping my clients obtain relief from emotional distress and develop strength and awareness to deal successfully with events that confront them day to day.
Among the areas of concern which are central to my work include those persons who are experiencing depressive symptoms, suffering from low self esteem, lacking energy or motivation to make needed changes, struggling in relationships, troubled by anxiety, social discomfort or panic attacks, dealing with substance abuse, and work stress.
In my work with clients, I help them to increase their self awareness. As they gain insight into how they conduct their lives, possibilities for change emerge. New ways of thinking and being in the world can lead to greater connectedness with others and increased capacities for joy.
