Hi, I am Jinnelle V. Powell, the Owner and Founder of Distinctive Counseling and Consulting. Our Distinctive Counselors are highly skilled and ready to help you navigate life's challenges. Our team of counselors assists clients address a wide variety of issues such as depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, family conflict, marital problems, career changes, parenting, and issues relevant to young children and adolescents. We provide treatment tailored to the needs of the client and rooted in evidence based practices.

I love what I do! I am a compassionate, nonjudgmental, and caring individual who has gone through painful life experiences myself and have likewise experienced the freedom and peace of healing. I am an experienced, skillful clinician who treats adults, adolescents, and children who are experiencing anxiety, insecurity, nightmares, depression, emotional reactions to trauma, stress, grief, guilt, and/or anger. I diagnose and treat children's' issues including ADHD, separation anxiety, divorce issues, anxiety, depressive disorders, autistic spectrum disorders, behavioral, social, school, or academic problems. I teach parents to implement structure & behavioral techniques that really work!

I am currently accepting new clients and I am able to provide telehealth and in person counseling. I am dually licensed as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC). I have recently gained EMDR therapy training and I invite you to take your next step towards healing.

I want to hear your story and understand your experience. Through therapy, I seek to help you understand yourself and others around you better. I will help you explore the way you see the world, your relationships, your "wiring", etc. I work well with a variety of concerns including marital issues, ADHD (kids and adults), depression, anxiety, and personality disorders. I work best with clients who seek to deepen their understanding of themselves and others.

My life experiences have enabled me to become the compassionate, empathetic and non- judgmental therapist that I strive to be. I am a true believer in the Holistic approach to counseling. I believe wellness comes from treating the whole person: physical, mental , spiritual and emotional health. A healthy diet, exercise, rest, and medical check-ups are vital to staying mentally and physically healthy. I’m an LPC and RPT. I work with all populations: individual, couples, families n children. I provide a safe space to work collaboratively with my clients and together we can work on your goals. I’m bilingual fluent in Spanish.
