Counseling is about working together in a nonjudgmental and caring environment to meet your goals, bring balance back into your life, and help you harness your own abilities in the healing process. I believe in empowering you to lead and guide your own personal growth within an accepting and trusting counseling relationship. I understand that every person is an individual, with specific emotional issues, life views and wants. I focus on how you are experiencing life in the present moment and what we can do together to provide self exploration, self understanding, and an avenue of balance along your life path.

I love working with anyone that feels like something has not been going right for them, be it for a long time or just a little while. I enjoy working with people that have anxiety, depression, trauma, attachment difficulties and people that just are feeling, again, like something is off. I seek to both equip my clients with the skills and tools they need to more effectively get through their lives as well as address inner difficulties so that the quality and satisfaction of life can be increased.

Waitlist for new clients
Sometimes it can seem like we spend so much of our days trying to please others and meeting their expectations that we have lost WHO WE ARE as individuals. Do we even like what we are doing? Feeling stuck in a ‘rut of life’ without much true meaning or passion? Finding that you are using alcohol or even drugs to cope with your life? Tired of the fake and need some AUTHENTICITY and COURAGE to just be you…to be heard…to be seen? Are you ready to discover your true self? There is HOPE! I have a passion for helping clients find their own strengths to live wholeheartedly and enjoy the journey of life!

Family Therapy

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
