Hello! I'm Dr. Oscar Melendez, a Spanish-speaking and bilingual clinician, and I'm excited to announce that I am currently accepting new patients, starting from the age of 3 and up. I am an affirming and holistically oriented psychotherapist, specializing in assertiveness communications, emotional regulation and vulnerable populations, depression, anxiety, trauma, personality disorders, individual counseling, couples counseling, and family counseling.

Bienvenidos! As a Valley native, I have been in private practice since 1982 in Virginia and Texas. I work with clients above the age of 12 (and younger children in family therapy). I specialize in resolving depression and anxiety, and tackling marital problems relating to infidelity, intimacy, child rearing, midlife crisis, and communicating. When a client is motivated, I find that short-term therapy is often sufficient to effect significant positive changes, but I may see clients for longer periods when the problems are related to childhood wounds. I often use dream analysis to deepen our work, and to help in resolving trauma.

Our intention in, and the emphasis on, behavioral health in our practice is to be broad and inclusive in thinking about the role of behavioral health clinicians in medical settings and in the treatment of physical, as well as mental health issues. Behavioral practices associated with complications related to diabetes, obesity, and pain management is addressed in the treatment of all patient mental health issues.

My name is Dion Smith. I’m a compassionate Licensed Professional Counselor with a widely varied experience in diverse areas of mental health services from psychological assessment and inpatient care to career and end of life counseling. I treat trauma, substance use, depression, anxiety, grief, loss, adjustment disorders and an array of other challenges.

We provide a full spectrum of services for mental health concerns in order to be of service to our community. We are goal/plan oriented to assist patients in overcoming obstacles in their lives. We very much provide an eclectic approach that is often inclusive of a variety of theories/treatments in order to meet the needs of the patient.

I am dually licensed as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC). I have recently gained EMDR therapy training and I invite you to take your next step towards healing.

I want to focus with a client on lifestyle and attention to the wisdom that resides in the mind, body, and spirit as a part of the immense human capacity to grow and change.
