Currently accepting new patients in our Lubbock office and will be offering video/online therapy in 2019 for Texas residents. My goal is to help you uncover your potential and lead a life that is worth celebrating. While we can't change difficult situations of the past, we can work together to better understand and resolve challenges in your life. Together, we will find your strengths and create the structure that allows you to function at your best. If you are looking for extra support and guidance through challenging situations, or ready to move in a new direction, I will work with you to help you achieve your goals.

Welcome, fellow earth wanderers to my therapy page. If you've made it this far, you are at the point of knowing something isn't quite right in your world. That means you're above and beyond the others walking through life thinking, "it's fine. I'm fine. We're fine". I'm an empathetic, open minded veteran who also will likely have a cat join in for session. I have many...let's call them therapy animals. I offer a safe, inclusive, affirming safe space. Although I'm a white male, I have years of experience working within LGBTQIA+ and POC populations and am committed to exploring unconscious bias and working in an anti racist way.

I believe in a therapeutic process that revolves around life's changes and the journeys it takes us on. Choosing to change your focus is a powerful way of transforming any situation. Focusing on the positive doesn't mean that we are denying reality or avoiding what isn't working. It simply allows us to work from a grounded place in order to make the most informed decision from a less emotional place of clarity. Within our sessions, the goal is to cultivate a trusting and collaborative therapeutic relationship where an individual can bring their full self into session without any fear.

UPDATE: I will be offering in person therapy as of June 1 2024 but may start before that time. I work with individuals with a wide range of issues from stress, depression, anxiety, trauma related disorders, and are just looking for a change. To book with me directly, check out my website by clicking on "website" on this page which also outlines more of my specialties and experience. I believe people in general intend to live their best lives but it's easy to lose sight of what that means when we get busy at work or tragedy hits. It's common and normal for these situations to require some guidance, support, and maybe a good laugh.

Family Therapy

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
