As a queer woman, I have both lived experience and extensive scholarly knowledge of the LGBTQ+ community, and tirelessly advocate for "family". I work with adolescents ages 14+ and adults. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist, and have been in private practice for 32 years. Half of my practice is with adults. Welcome to my “Why you should pick me to be your counselor,” bio! I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Texas working primarily with the LGBTQIA+ community. Together we can tackle issues related to depression, anxiety, gender and sexual discovery/acceptance, dismantling internalized queer-phobia, strategies to come out, family dynamics, etc. Additionally, I am Gottman Method Level 1 trained in Relationship Counseling. I work with my couples on strengthening communication, enhancing sexual/romantic intimacy, manage conflict as well as assist couples who are exploring ethical non-monogamy and polyamory.

Counseling is about working together in a nonjudgmental and caring environment to meet your goals, bring balance back into your life, and help you harness your own abilities in the healing process. My name is Samatha and I specialize in areas often related to interpersonal trauma such as post-traumatic stress, anxiety, depression, grief, relationship problems, and issues of social inequity. Interpersonal trauma can include anything from childhood trauma that occurs in the family of origin, to ongoing discrimination in everyday life. Often times, trauma interferes with our ability to trust others and the world around us. This makes it very difficult to feel safe and secure in our own skin. It can be challenging to engage in the present moment and feel fulfilled, and it can compromise our health in many ways.
