Hello, With more than 25 years of experience providing individual, group and family therapy within both outpatient and inpatient settings, I would be honored to assist you along your journey. I am familiar with many unique cultural and ethnic differences and the wonderful diversity within the human family. I feel that we are all more alike than we are different in that we all just want to be loved, feel safe, and contribute something meaningful to our families and to the world. I also ran a women's group therapy program for more than 12 years, focusing on the unique needs related to women's mental health across the lifecycle.

My name is Hilary M. DeWeerd and I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I work with adults (18+) and provide individual and couples counseling. I welcome clients of any race, religion or orientation. I believe every person has an innate motivation to move towards the best version of themselves. I view my position in the therapeutic relationship as supporting a person through what may be a very difficult time so that the individual or family can move forward. I view therapy from a person-centered perspective, meaning an individual or family leads decisions regarding change. What I find most important in counseling is the therapeutic relationship between client and counselor. I nurture this relationship by providing a safe space for people to explore their deep personal struggles while I remain nonjudgmental and empathetic.

I have a passion for working with others to improve their quality of life. I have spent over twenty years working with children of all ages, adolescents and adults, whom have had emotional, behavioral, medical and learning challenges. I have experience providing family and marital counseling. My experience also includes working with individuals whom have dual diagnosis using different forms of psychotherapy. I meet my clients where they are to partner with them in making a positive impact in their lives. I choose to live my life by the words of Mahatma Gandhi “You must be the Change you wish to see in the World".

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor in the state of Texas and have been in practice for 18 years. I have earned a BA in Psychology, and a Masters of Science in Counseling Psychology. Psychotherapy and Counseling are my passion, and study them unceasingly. I am inspired by both Western psychologies and Eastern philosophies. My clients are worldwide from a multitude of cultures and subcultures, ethnicities, ages, genders, sexual orientations, and emotional, psychological, and relational difficulties.
