I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate who holds a Master’s of Education in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from The University of Houston and a Bachelor’s of Science in Psychology from Sam Houston State University. I am supervised by Rebecca Smith, LPC - Supervisor in Montgomery County. I utilize a combination of cognitive behavioral therapy, person centered therapy, and various other modalities to customize a treatment plan for each client.

As past Chief of Allied Staff of a inpatient psychiatric hospital plus 20+ years of private practice, I provide a strong base of clinical skill and experience for all my clients. Through building improved perception, insight,and judgment supported by the accepting psychotherapeutic relationship, my goal is to enable clients to effect positive change in their lives through awareness and resolution of issues. My practice focuses on the family as well as individual behavioral/emotional problems of children, through Play Therapy, and adolescents and adults. I am a licensed marriage and family therapist at Lake Conroe Counseling Center providing individual and family therapy in Montgomery, TX. As a graduate from Pepperdine University I have worked in both California and in Texas serving a broad spectrum of clients. Among my areas of expertise are family therapy, child therapy, grief and loss, culture shock, Third Culture Kids (TCK), and repatriation issues.

I understand that life brings unexpected transitions. During these transitions people sometimes need someone to help facilitate change, someone to listen without judgment, or voice their thoughts in order to gain a fresh perspective. The goal in counseling is to help those in crisis, navigate through grief, anger, confusion, and those who feel out of control gain control. I have worked in several inpatient hospitals and private practice for six years and that has allowed me to counsel military families, clients with suicidal thoughts or attempts, addicts, and those who struggle with psychosis.

My strongest belief as a therapist is that there must be a connection between therapist and client, one of trust and respect. Not all therapists are a right fit for you, you have to find the therapist you connect with. I have worked with individuals and their families to gain skills for coping with and managing issues surrounding depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, PTSD, and behavioral struggles along with relational and personal issues. I have worked with adolescents in hospital outpatient settings as well as private practice. I have experience working with children, adult individuals, couples, and families.

What do you hope would be better about yourself, about your life, about your marriage, about your family? This is my chief focus as a therapist. I get to the heart of what you really want and hope for in the first session, beginning with the end in mind. I believe hope is an essential mechanism for change in human beings. Hope drives us to accomplish the greatest feats in our lives. I have assisted people in striving for hope during my times in ministry, youth work, crisis response and in the counseling setting. I work with individuals, couples and families. I especially enjoy helping couples get back to having a hopeful marriage.

While trauma can leave deep wounds and lasting scars, I believe you are infinitely more than a diagnosis, list of symptoms, or your worst experiences. You deserve to be treated as a whole person with unique needs and desires. My job as your therapist is to help you use your natural gifts and abilities to meet those needs and achieve your goals.

You deserve to live a life that leaves you excited to wake up every morning. You deserve to overcome and persevere. You deserve a chance to heal and overcome obstacles that hinder you from your best self. My ideal patient is focused upon personal growth and healing while processing events and thoughts, even when others or self doesn't understand them. Utilizing therapy to build/establish trust to discuss difficult topics even where honesty is needed.
