This can be a difficult time of year. Family obligations, financial stress, and balancing work and family can be especially stressful. It's the perfect time to change our cognitions and behavior to improve our daily experience. Together, we can move towards better coping and optimism. I take joy in working with clients to develop skills, gain self-awareness, experience growth, & appreciate their strengths. My affirmative approach includes changing beliefs & behaviors that are no longer serving you in a supportive and accepting environment. Immediate openings for virtual & in-person counseling with teens, adults, and couples.

In working with individuals, I use Internal Family Systems therapy to help clients resolve inner conflicts, making space for seemingly contradictory feelings and thoughts.
"Why is this so hard? We love each other, but we can't stop fighting." I understand the hopelessness of living in a cycle of conflict. I became a couples therapist because I believe deeply in the importance of having a supportive and loving relationship--with yourself and with your partner. I will help you learn how to stop when anger, fear and hurt cause you to react in defensive and aggressive ways toward your partner. By slowing down and taking care of yourself first, you will gradually learn how to connect from a more vulnerable and honest place, creating a more satisfying and peaceful relationship together.

I often utilize approaches based in relational-cultural therapy, interpersonal process, and Internal Family Systems.
Are you struggling to make changes in your life and maintain care and compassion for yourself? Are you having trouble with the relationships that matter to you? Helping others build their self-compassion and relational strengths is a true passion of mine. It’s a priority for me to meet my clients where they’re at, but I always work from a trauma-informed, relational, feminist-multicultural perspective. I believe that our habits, patterns, and behaviors make so much sense in the context of what we’ve experienced throughout our lives, and part of supporting our mental wellness is meeting ourselves with kindness and understanding.

Are you In search of a caring professional who is equipped and experienced? Whether you're an adult, family, teen or child---the time for change is now. My 15 years of experience with working in the schools has given me an invaluable insight as to how our younger years, shape and mold us in our later years. Regardless of where you are struggling; past, present and/or future, there is hope. By getting to the root of the problem, we aren’t just treating the symptoms but instead, you will be finding freedom from issues/feelings/situations that seem to be surfacing or returning.

I provide individual, couples and family therapy.

I can offer a peaceful and safe place to explore who you are and the difficulties you may be having,in order to live a happier life. I listen fully in an effort to see you truly, but I'm quite interactive. I'm deep at times, and I'm playful and practical as well, helping you figure out solutions and to make plans. This is a joint process where we come together to make your life better.

When you were young, did you ever promise yourself that your long-term relationship wasn't going to end up like the ones you saw in your family? You didn't want to have to argue all of the time, you wanted open and vulnerable communication where you and your partner could be yourself, and you definitely did not want any heated arguments, loneliness, or resentment. You thought if you married your best friend, asked the right questions, figured out your careers and values, and communicated enough, you could avoid the discontent you saw in other couples. And now you are here, despite your best efforts.

Grief is something we all face in life, but each person experiences it differently. Sometimes it’s due to the death of a loved one. Other times, however, it’s due to the loss of your country, your health, your plans for a family, or another important pillar of your life. You may be finding that this feels much different than you expected it to—rather than just feeling sad, you feel angry, impatient, constantly on edge. You’re tired of people telling you “they know how you feel” (they don’t) or that you’re “so strong” (you don’t feel that way). Your world has been permanently changed, and you’re not sure how to move forward.

I have a strong passion for working with adolescents and adults either individually, groups, or as a family.
"ITS OKAY TO BE SCARED, BEING SCARED MEANS YOU'RE ABOUT TO DO SOMETHING REALLY, REALLY BRAVE." Mandy Hale. Sometimes people struggle with the idea of going to see a therapist and finding the one that is right for them. Having rapport with your counselor is the most important thing. Once there is rapport with your counselor, the conversations will not feel forced/coerced ...you get to be in the present and work on why you came to therapy to begin with. Each person is unique, so I will use a variety of techniques to meet your presenting issue.

Kiddos, teens, and young adults are my jam. I understand family conflict, struggles with social interactions, anxiety, depression, and all the things that these age groups have to face, especially in a world that doesn't seem to be kind and understanding of their obstacles and needs, almost dismissing their experiences as undeserving of being taken seriously. These youth are seeking to find their place in the world and feel confident and worthy of moving through life with the love and respect they deserve. They're eager to learn more about themselves and make sense of the world around them and becoming self empowered in the process.

My areas of expertise include: * Anxiety * Depression * Grief and Loss * Relationship difficulties * Family challenges * Life transitions * Adolescent/Development issues * Divorce recovery * Trauma *.
When you are struggling, one of the most difficult things to do is ask for help. It takes courage, faith, and trust to reach out when life feels unmanageable or overwhelming. Yet taking that one step is often the very best thing you can do for yourself and those you love. I provide compassionate, competent counseling to teens and adults in individual, and family/group settings. I use individualized talk, play, and EMDR techniques to help clients set therapeutic goals and reach them.

Family Therapy

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
