In order to meet the needs of each client, I integrate elements of CBT/DBT, EFT, Internal Family Systems, and play/art therapy, to help clients make positive changes in their lives.
My goal is to build a strong therapeutic relationship grounded in collaboration, empathy, and trust. Committed to seeing each client as unique, I practice from a strength based and person-centered approach so you can get to your best self and experience lasting change. My clients rely on me to help make sense of the issues bringing them into therapy and also better understand how their family of origin, upbringing, and life experiences have impacted and continue to impact their mental well-being. I work with children, adolescents, teens, adults, couples, and families who may be experiencing a number of struggles or challenges.

"Speak in such a way that others love to listen to you and listen in such a way that others love to speak to you." We are all going through own our journey through life and many times the path ahead feels and appears impossible. Or maybe there is so much damage from a road that blew up on you and now you can't see which way to go. No matter what age, we can all find pieces of our life that we can control and influence positively even in the midst of impossibility. Anxiety, anger, family conflict, behavioral issues, blended families, stress management. trauma, depression, and the list goes on of things that can impair our daily life.

Being trained in marriage and family therapy means that I am not only trained in traditional psychotherapy, but also in family systems.
In my personal and professional life, I have found one thing to be true: Life can be hard. I have a passion for supporting others in resolving pain and reclaiming fullness in life. While pain is an inevitable part of the human experience, suffering is optional. I am dedicated to helping individuals, couples, and families heal from relational and other traumas, problematic sexual behaviors, addictions, and intimacy disorders. I see men and women whose lives have spiraled out of control become desperate for help. I see brokenhearted adults and children as they learn to cope with an unstable world. My heart is to heal the broken hearted and give hope where hope was once lost.

That's why I'm learning more about Internal Family Systems because I believe that if we listen to the parts of us that are bothering us, we can learn what we truly need.
Developmentally in the US, we begin to truly form our identity as teenagers, but sometimes that gets stunted for one reason or another. I want to be able to walk by your side while you discover and choose who you want to be at whatever age that may happen. Anxiety, depression, and OCD are other issues I focus on.

I truly believe in client centered care, therefore, I match theoretical approaches to the individual/family.
Accepting new clients! Every name has a story and every story is worth telling. Finding the best fit for a new therapist can be challenging and scary as you step into a place of vulnerability. We all experience challenging seasons and chapters in our lives and sometimes we need support and guidance to navigate through them. I'm passionate about helping people write their own stories, learn how to move through emotions, embrace where they are at, and gain the skills to thrive and live life abundantly.

I have 25+ years of experience helping people, like yourself, to overcome stress and obstacles that prevent us from celebrating our relationships and our lives. If you want a professional in your corner to listen and help you navigate - then I would be honored to be a resource for you. I offer support and guidance - even gently challenge you at times - but you will be the one who decides what course of action you want to take with your life.

"There are wounds that never show on the body that are deeper and more hurtful than anything that bleeds." – Laurell K. Hamilton. You are struggling to manage painful feelings and it is spilling into multiple areas of your life — sabotaging meaningful relationships and disrupting your work life. It is difficult to focus on a task for more than a few minutes before you are sucked into the negative thought spiral. Past experiences haunt you, driving you to use those self-destructive behaviors you thought you left behind. It is difficult to imagine a life where you are content and feel safe.

I desire to journey alongside and help others as they begin to piece together their stories and see the beauty in their brokenness. I have been greatly influenced by the Spiritual Root SystemTM, Townsend Institutes Character Structure Development, Attachment Theory, and somatic experiencing. Rather than only looking at the symptoms a person is experiencing, I aspire to go deeper with the client and search through the root causes of their symptoms. Through this deeper dive, my hope is that clients will begin to see their story more clearly and even see redemption in the wounds they have experienced in life.

Family Therapy

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
