I think of therapy as a compassionate collaboration. Clients and I form a partnership in which we work together to not only change behavior, but to understand why we continue to make the same mistakes. We also develop a "roadmap" to avoid future problems by learning to spot "red flags" that may trigger old behaviors. Learning new coping skills and strengthening old ones are an intregal part of this process.
