I specialize in couples and family therapy and work from a systemic perspective.
Are you feeling stuck and need some guidance for growth? I won't offer band-aid solutions, only lasting and meaningful change. Therapy to me is a process of identifying and understanding who you are and where you want to go. I want to journey with you to the deeper levels of your struggles and find the light. The arrow is a powerful symbol to me that represents the growth we are capable of. In order for an arrow to aim forward, it must be pulled back with the bow to gain strength.

Change is never easy. There is an abundance of places to start and sometimes, it is places we have never been to or ever thought of exploring. The areas we need to explore are our history, family & friends, & environment. However, it is a firm belief that each & every person-no matter what they have done, felt, experienced, or believe about themselves, is capable of change & can commit to ways in which this change is lasting. Through a psychodynamic approach, I strive to work with clients to identify where their needs lie & where they may have started, along with taking a look at the path they are on or have taken before.

With a focus on family dynamics, I enjoy supporting my clients in setting boundaries and improving their relationships by highlighting existing personal strengths. I see clients of all ages, but especially love working with clients through times of transition in their life, be it a transition through adolescence or a transition through older adulthood. Past clients have appreciated my realistic approach to addressing their needs, giving tangible tools to use outside of session. I have a great love for my job and I believe strongly in people's ability to grow and change.

What would it look like for you to live your life authentically, meaningfully and free? Together, we can find out. We may explore how your family system and trauma adaptations are getting in the way of your ability to manage moods and set boundaries with others. Or maybe you’ve had experiences where you question your self-worth, asking yourself, “Am I good enough? Am I enough?” We may explore where these beliefs and expectations come from, and how to establish self-compassion. Or maybe you’re finding it challenging to regulate your emotions, so we may discover ways to self-regulate and become more grounded in the present.

I enjoy aiding people in goal setting and identification, meaning-making, and navigating family conflicts.

I have worked with a range of populations, nearly all ages, and also have experience with couple's counseling and addiction treatment. Imagine a life in which your challenges - depression, anxiety, fear, loneliness - are no longer holding you back. Feeling worried, guilty, lost, or unsure of how to connect with others can feel uncomfortable and intimidating. When we worry, struggle to find meaning, or feel a lack of motivation and clarity, it can affect our mood, relationships, and overall experience. When your challenges are not holding you back, you can have deeper relationships, greater satisfaction with work & personal pursuits, and less worry about issues like finances, happiness, family, etc.

Other training I've had include family/marriage therapy training, EMDR and a host of other evidence based modalities.
I am dedicated to helping people overcome their struggles and become more connected with themselves and others. I've worked in Human Services since 1995 and have been a Mental Health Therapist since 2002. My training includes many modalities but what I find to be the important is understanding where people are in their lives through actively listening to people's experience, being supportive and identifying what works best for each person. This creates a safe environment where people feel heard, accepted and validated..

Family Therapy

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
