Counseling can help you, your child, and your family, find peace again.
Are you concerned about how sad or anxious your child is? Are you getting frequent calls from school regarding your child's behavior? Are you having issues communicating with your teenager? As a parent, it is difficult to see your child hurting. You child may be acting out at home and at school. Your teenager may lash out at you, leaving you wondering what happened. Or it may be more serious concerns regarding your child's unhealthy eating patterns, hurting themselves, or even considering suicide. You may be frustrated that you've tried everything but it just hasn't worked.

An ideal client for me would be someone who is just as interested in their healing journey as I am. Someone who is willing to do the work, both in and out of session. I tend to work best with clients who are open, honest, and authentic with me and themselves about what motivated them to explore their need for change.

You have good days and bad days. At times, the sadness and stress are overwhelming. Maybe someone important to you has died or you're struggling with a significant relationship or a life transition. Maybe others cannot relate to your loss & you're feeling very alone. You've landed here because you need to talk to someone about it. I specialize in grief and loss. Grief is a natural response to death & loss but this feels like a wilderness you have not explored before and you need some guidance. Are you interested in feeling less overwhelmed & more settled? You don't have to do this on your own.

Welcome! Typically, I work with clients who are struggling with traditional behavioral health concerns such as anxiety, depression/grief, stress, relationship concerns & life transitions. As a trained health psychologist, I also work with clients who are struggling with issues such as sleep disturbance, high blood pressure/cholesterol, migraine/tension headaches, pain & newly diagnosed illness. For some, there is an intersection between physical & emotional health. When this is the case, I welcome collaboration with any treating specialists. I find that clients are best served when providers work together for your benefit.

Accepting New Clients! Empathy, validation, non-judgement, and authenticity are what you will experience. I believe meeting the client where they are and building rapport are two important aspects of counseling. I have a firm belief that we are influenced directly or indirectly by our family systems and culture. My mission is to empower each individual by teaching and guiding them along the journey of personal growth and change. I believe everyone’s situation is unique, therefore, I prefer to use an integrative approach where we find which therapeutic modality is best for you.

Family Therapy
What do family therapists do?
A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.
How long does therapy for families take to work?
Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.
How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?
You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.
Is therapy for families effective?
Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
