I provide creative, playful solutions to my client's issues that are relationship-focused. Through play, children are able to express themselves safely and work out what is troubling them. Play is the language of children and the toys becomes their words. By incorporating mindfulness and CBT, clients are well equipped to tackle anxiety, anger, depression, and more. Parents are given the tools to understand what their children are communicating to them and we work as a team to strengthen the family system, decrease power struggles and stressors in the home. Sandtray play therapy is a powerful tool for couples, families, adults, teens and children.

Do you sometimes need someone to talk to to open up about your worries and sadness, and hopes and dreams? Maybe you don't want to keep asking your friends/family to listen or maybe there isn't anyone to open up to at all. Now you don't have to do it alone...

I work with clients managing anxiety, depression, ADHD, substance abuse, professional development challenges, as well as parenting and family issues.
Are you feeling like the happiness, peace of mind, and professional success which you desire is consistently out of your grasp? My typical client knows that something in their life is not working, and they are ready to seek out meaningful change. Making the first step to reach out and pursue support is often the most difficult step. The good news is that therapy, and life and executive coaching are powerful tools for creating lasting change; for those who are ready to make that step.

One of my many interests is the challenge placed upon a family which includes a member with learning issues and/or ADHD.
Is it difficult to confront issues with your child, adolescent, college student or partner because anger and frustration end the interaction before anything is accomplished? Do you "walk on tiptoes" rather than start a fight? Are you worried about your teen's moodiness and 'addiction' to technology? I am a clinical psychologist with many years of experience as an individual (adult / child) and family therapist. Communication and resolution of difficult issues is the focus of treatment. Therapy concentrates on solving problems and setting goals. I firmly believe that the emotional safety provided by the therapist sets the foundation for successful work.

I work at a group practice on the Main Line offering individual, couples, and family therapy.
The process of finding a psychologist who is a good fit for either yourself or a family member can be overwhelming and frustrating. I make it a point to ensure that clients who reach out to me feel heard and understood. Therapy can only be effective if it is a collaborative process in which clients feel they have a say in their own treatment. I mainly practice from a cognitive-behavioral perspective (CBT), but I also use other modalities in sessions in order to best meet the needs of my clients.

My family centered approach to treatment identifies the strengths of each family member and uses them to conquer the challenges being presented.
When you look at your child, you see strength and potential within them; but big emotions and challenging behaviors can cause you to lose sight of those positives, leaving you feeling overwhelmed and lost. Children are complex, perceptive beings who know and understand more than we give them credit for, but they aren't always the best communicators, especially when it comes to their emotions. Thankfully, there is hope! Taking the time to understand your child's perspective and experience will help you connect with them on a deeper level, setting the foundation for strong and secure relationships for life.

I use a range of research-based cognitive, behavioral and family therapy approaches.
Reaching out is the 1st step toward feeling relief and achieving personal, family or professional goals. Therapy offers private time with support to take a fresh look at your situation and evaluate options. I bring to the room more than 20 years of experience in clinical practice, as well as designing and directing treatment programs, training therapists, and publishing in the field. People I work with tell me I am easy to talk to, warm and non-judgmental. They appreciate my ability to 'keep it real,' helping develop practical solutions in 6 -12 sessions, or in longer-term therapy.

Family Therapy
If you're looking for family therapy in Bryn Mawr or for a Bryn Mawr family therapist these professionals provide family therapy services and structural family therapy services. They include family therapists and marriage family therapists. Therapists in Bryn Mawr using the techniques of 'family therapy' (also referred to as marriage and family therapy and family counseling) view change in terms of the systems of interaction between family members.

Family relationships often affect psychological well-being and, regardless of the origin of an issue, or whether it may be the "individual" or "family" who is presenting it, involving the family in the solution can be of great benefit. Families participate directly in sessions during which the family therapist helps conversations in a way that draws upon and builds the strengths, wisdom and support of the wider family unit.
