As a system's therapist, I utilize Bowenian Family Systems, Internal Family Systems therapy (IFS), and Emotionally-Focused Therapy (EFT).
While I may have a waitlist, please don't hesitate to reach out! I hold high value in your journey and acknowledge that healing isn’t linear. The human experience is complex, and my goal is to create a space that allows you to explore your story. Maybe your pain comes from childhood trauma, family or social stressors, work pressure, partner wounding in relationships, or a specific incident impacting your life right now. Together, we will unpack intergenerational legacies passed through family that impact intimacy, closeness, and how you relate to those around you.

Either working with an individual, couple or family, I come from the perspective that every person is wired for connection and seeks growth to embody their wisdom and wholeness. Individuals can heal from past experiences, move through difficult transitions, and learn to tolerate the stresses of modern life. When we are disconnected from our natural capacity, we can experience life as intolerable and forget our inherent worth. I believe in a collaborative approach to not only find relief from problems, but also to restore health and a sense of internal wholeness.

I believe that life is a journey and although it is so often wondrous and joyful, it can also present unique challenges for us as human beings. These challenges can leave us feeling confused, overwhelmed, scared and alone at times. Counseling can be supportive in helping to restore emotional balance and deepen our sense of aliveness and well being. In my work with clients, I draw on strategies that assist people in exploring ways that they can move towards self-compassion and a more integrated sense of self.

NOTE: I am not accepting new clients at this time but would love to refer you to my colleagues at Pulse Wellness Coop. Moving through change can feel daunting and overwhelming, especially when we go it alone. Our inner critic tells us that we’re not doing it the right way, or maybe that we can’t do it at all. That desire towards perfection pulls us away from our authentically flawed selves, who both get to make mistakes and learn from them–how beautiful!

I want to create a judgment-free space where your unique story is cherished, perfections are embraced, and your journey is the center of our work. My commitment is to use warmth, compassion, and understanding to help unravel the narratives we all weave about how we "should" navigate life. It's about your authenticity, vulnerability, and rawness. In the therapeutic space, perfection is neither expected nor sought. It's a comforting space for the beautiful messiness of your experiences, where words don't need to be flawless, imperfections are treated as unique threads in your story, and self-discovery unfolds at your pace.

I provide a client-centered approach to therapy by working in a collaborative manner to address your goals through individual therapy, family therapy, group therapy, and parent support.
I believe there comes a time in most people's lives when it's helpful to have a supportive person to guide them through challenges they may be experiencing. It takes strength and courage to decide to begin therapy. If this is something you are considering for your child then you should be commended! As a Certified Synergetic Play Therapist, I engaged in Synergetic Play Therapy (TM), "a research-informed model of play therapy blending the therapeutic power of play with nervous system regulation, interpersonal neurobiology, physics, attachment, mindfulness, and therapist authenticity." - Lisa Dion, creator of Synergetic Play Therapy

My work is essentially psychodynamic, and strongly influenced by attachment theory, object relations, and family systems theories.
I work with people of all ages and am experienced in treating anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship problems, substance abuse and eating disorders. I enjoy working with adults who are rethinking longstanding patterns, struggling with family-of-origin issues, or adjusting to unanticipated changes in their lives. I see these transitions as opportunities for growth, healing, and the development of greater awareness. I also work with children and teens and bring creativity, experience and common sense to this work. I work with couples and families, especially those experiencing conflict, transitions, or struggles related to loss, trauma, divorce, remarriage, or shifting roles.

Is your child presenting as anxious or on edge? Do they share thoughts and concerns that seem out of pocket for their young brains? Are they possibly experiencing difficulties with emotional regulation skills or making friends? Together we can collaborate to build a comfortable, safe space for your child to explore all of their thoughts, feelings, strengths, and struggles. My goal is to guide your child while they form their identity and develop potentially lagging skills. In sessions we will engage in play or other creative activities while deepening their understanding of themselves and the world around them.

Human minds and bodies are creative and our systems find ways to keep us functioning safely through extraordinary and difficult circumstances. There often comes a time, however, when the tools and skills we have relied on to keep us safe are no longer working and we need to find new ways to move through the world as we build the life we want to live.

My theoretical orientation is rooted in Systems Theory and I utilize interventions from Family Systems Therapy, Internal Family Systems, CBT, DBT, Motivational Interviewing, ARC, as well as Somatic and Mindfulness based psychotherapies.
I believe the role of a therapist is to be more than a reflective and empathetic companion in the client’s journey and must also incorporate directive approaches in order to alternate between being a companion and being a leader on that journey. Inherent in this belief is that clients are coming to therapy because they want something different than what they currently have. This can be as simple as a new perspective on a past or current struggle or as complex as a new skill set for managing and overcoming emotional, behavioral, cognitive, relational, or somatic patterns that have arisen in response to emotional distress.

Family Therapy

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
