I tailor my treatment plans to each individual, couple, or family through a social justice and trauma-informed lens.
Life is about connection: to ourselves, our communities, and our relationships. However, with the relentless stress of an increasingly uncertain world, unhealed wounds can be activated, leaving you feeling stuck. Therapy is a useful way to reimagine those connections by exploring, adjusting, and strengthening them. I utilize my background as a performing artist and an integrative approach to help my clients create intimacy in their relationships, implement boundaries, and build resilience. I do this through the use of evidence-based theories, mindfulness, and a playful energy.

I most commonly see individuals who struggle with anxiety and depression and couples seeking to deepen their connection, improve communication, reduce conflict, and work through past wounds. My approach is an eclectic one, most heavily drawing from Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). Therapy with me is engaging, supportive, and outcome-oriented, aiming to assist clients in boosting interpersonal skills, coping mechanisms, and self-worth.

Something tells me you are tired of being used for your money, or giving room and board to family & friend that is taking advantage of you – and you don’t know what to do? Bad break up? In love? Interested in someone? My specialty is flexibility and availability Oh yes I'm also an exceptional listener.
Did you wake up this morning and wish you weren’t alive? Did you look in the mirror and was disappointed at what you saw? Do you find your days interrupted with extreme sadness, or crying? How about getting angry about events and incidents that you would usually let go? Did you get fired or demoted? Is your co-workers giving you a hard time at your place of employment? Is there an individual you love not paying attention to you? Tired of being under the influence? Does your circle make you feel ugly and unwanted? How about your anxiety around family and friends at events and gatherings?

My specialty is working to relieve anxiety and depression, along with the ramifications of chronic physical illness, as I view these issues as family illnesses, effecting each individual and family member differently.
Covid-19 has brought the world of mental health fragility to a new level never seen before. The isolation and loneliness felt by everyone from children to the elderly has caused a rise in depression, anxiety and fear regarding every day life and the future. These strains are unhealthy emotionally and physically and need attention to avoid lasting impressions. The working relationship in therapy is to define underlying issues, stuck thought patterns and transform negative behavior to evolve into a positive and thriving attitude and consequently, life choices. We will join together to create the life you desire, as I help guide you.

Helping couples and individuals see that they are each contributing to the identified problem allows for each party to take ownership and move forward in their issues and or relationship which vary from intimate, professional, social and family.
In my years of practice I have had the opportunity to work with a broad range of people on a wide range of issues. The skills of the therapist, developed and refined over many years are of importance in the clinical setting. Helping clients access their emotional and cognitive processing is a significant component of the work. I work with individuals, couples and families who feel "stuck" to identify the underlying causes and work towards defining goals that will spell "relief". Collaboration and reinforcement are significant in the process in order to help achieve the goals that are established and help create change.

I believe that therapy can serve many purposes and that each case is unique. For some it may involve an exploration of a difficult personal relationship, a challenge on the job, or a pressing family issue. For others, it may be about feelings of loss, depression, alienation, and anxiety. Life transitions frequently cause some to seek therapy while others are concerned with substance issues and other addictions, gender and sexuality exploration, or practical approaches to a challenging life circumstance(s).

Family Therapy

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
