Together, we will be able to resolve your own life traumas, to untangle family/relational traumas and address cultural/environmental traumas that often linger unresolved in our subconscious mind.
If being melancholic, neurotic, unmotivated; having anxiety, depressive moods, obsessive thinking, nightmares; feeling displaced, feeling shame, unbearable emotional hurt, loss, feeling driven by fear are your obstacles to reach optimal way of being in this complex world, therapy is the best journey to take to get help. Benefits of taking that journey with me are that I know how to wellcome, nurture and bring to awareness human potentials to help ourselves through unleashing our own unique creative powers to resolve problems even when they are hidden in our subconscious mind.

My clients are engaged and want to be in a place where they can enjoy life and maximize opportunities. They want to have strong family relationships, to confidently explore the world around them, and make connections. Whether they are struggling with anxiety or depression, developing their identity, or trying to integrate in social setting, we will partner to create tangible goals and work towards them. We utilize a blend of therapeutic techniques including CBT, client-centered, journaling and just talking. In all therapy, I am respectful of the mind-body connection.

I've taught family and couple therapy at Hunter College School of Social Work.
Choosing a psychotherapist is rarely an easy decision. Can I trust this person? Will she be able to help and understand me? I believe that feeling respected and heard is the first step in a therapist-patient relationship. It is a necessary prerequisite to meaningful change in a person's life. People come to me with many concerns that can rob them of optimism and hope, and leave them feeling anxious, worried, alone, sad or frightened. I work to help people overcome obstacles, to value themselves more, and to help them find meaning and connection.

Life can be so overwhelming between work, family, friends and daily responsibilities. Between the whirlwind of emotions experienced throughout the day and balancing the needs of all the people in our lives, it can be so hard to breathe and prioritize ourselves. We can find ourselves saying "yes" to tasks and events when we really should say "no." We can find ourselves overthinking our to-do lists and feeling overwhelmed, sad or anxious at the end of the day. But learning to set boundaries, communicate your needs and cope with a multitude of emotions is possible with a safe, non-judgmental space that prioritizes comfort and trust.

NYC we have a team of highly trained clinicians and other mental health professionals who are able to collectively provide a unique and customized treatment to you or your family member.
ADHD has become a widely recognized challenge that can be treated medically as well as non-medically. Depending on the child or adult and their specific circumstances and needs, we can help. To assess and diagnose, we have experienced psychiatrists and psychologists on staff. Once diagnosed, if medication is warranted as a part of the treatment plan, the psychiatrist would continue in his/her role as the prescribing physician. He/she would communicate with the other clinicians in the center who, as part of the treatment team, would have non-medical roles in the effective treatment of ADHD and its associated conditions.

Life can be complex, messy, and difficult to function in. Working with both individuals and couples/families, there is no limit to what kind of issues or goals you can have for therapy. Anxiety, eating disorders, work/school stress, depression, transitional stress, and family trauma don't even begin to scratch the surface of what you can bring to the session when you meet with me.

I have been a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist for a very long time. I have much experience working with people of all ages, backgrounds, sexual orientation, and relationship issues. I do this work because it is very satisfying. And it is “work” for my clients as well. I know that my clients need courage and self awareness to recognize when they need to reach out for help. I consider the goal of therapy is to empower my clients to find solutions to solve the problems in their life—to get unstuck from unhealthy patterns in their life—unresolved and repetitive conflicts.

Family Therapy

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
