Through self examination and re-interpretation of your past experiences and relationships we can work toward creating a healthier outlook on your life and overcome the challenges you encounter within yourself, your family, relationships and career.
Working together I can help in overcoming personal struggles caused by painful experiences, unhealthy relationships and poor self esteem. Learning to see ourselves through a healthy perspective instead of our criticisms and insecurities can help in creating a healthier approach to overcome the obstacles that prevent us from enjoying a fulfilling life.

I use a strengths-focused approach that regards you as the expert of your life and recognizes the unique social, family, and political systems you live within.
I believe that therapy is a space for getting in touch with your life, exploring what's led you to this moment, and envisioning a future that you can believe in. Drawing from my previous career in improvised music, I'm particularly interested in creatively exploring issues such as perfectionism, anxiety, low self-esteem, gender roles and socialization, relationships, spirituality, and creating purpose.

No one seeks therapy because they feel their life is going well. However, seeking therapy is a sign that things are actually going right! Deeply, intimately, and passionately knowing yourself is the key to happiness and I want to help you achieve that. Knowledge is power and with that power you can make decisions to change. You can achieve acess to parts of yourself that can make you feel alive and in love with life. I am excited to help you do that.

I am a licensed psychotherapist specializing in grief, loss, depression, and anxiety. I often meet with people who are new to (or a little skeptical of) therapy, but are still feeling out of shift with their peers or feeling abnormal in some way. Maybe you have lost the sense of joy that you used to have. Or maybe you've been having trouble getting through your everyday activities. You may experience social anxiety and have been feeling a lack of confidence lately. You'd like to be more supportive in your relationships. If you're feeling a heaviness that prevents you from enjoying your life, I'm here to help you.

Our lives and dreams can veer off track at times and leave us feeling lost and alone.

In order to shift anything, one must reach, with a gentle touch, the parts of ourselves that are able to transform. It’s only human to want to heal in order to function at our optimal capacity, whatever that might be for us. I passionately hold that we could all use a way to slow down our rapidly evolving lives—a way to hold space for what drives us forward, or slows us down in ways we’d like to speed up. Therapy is a space to peel back layers to help you move toward being fully expressed, in steady, easy participation with your life—even with its inevitable ups and downs and the in-between spaces.

Coming to therapy is a very courageous step and I want to explore and address different aspects of our lives. It is possible that clients may experience feelings of empowerment sometimes, or feelings of distress and overwhelmingness. I look to provide an open, comfortable, and safe space for all of my clients.

Family Therapy

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
