My approach to therapy is based around the belief that people do not fit easily into boxes. It is my job to be adaptable. No matter what difficulties you are facing in life you know yourself best and my role is to support you getting to that end state you desire. I have worked with clients of all ages and many backgrounds. I will work with you to develop a plan of action and support you on your journey to get to that place where you can find genuine peace.

It's a joy, passion, and privilege doing this work. Over the past 15 years, I've practiced in school settings, community mental health, managed care, VA hospitals, university counseling centers, and private practice. My clinical interests are in fear, stress, depression, and suicide; creativity and the expressive arts; issues of intimacy and vulnerability in relationships; and issues of culture, identity, and liberation - especially regarding race, gender, sexuality, and spirituality. My specialized training (20 years) is in Buddhist psychology, trauma-informed creative art therapy, and exposure therapy for anxiety and trauma.

I have extensive experience working with transitional age teens and young adults in their academic and recreational environments. Practiced in utilizing solution-focused interventions and a short term treatment model. I strive to instill hope and encourage clients to utilize their strengths to navigate the many challenges life can present.

Pregnancy can be one of the most wonderful and stressful times in a woman’s life with enormous changes in family dynamics and relationships. Whether a new parent or care taker, or experiencing the tragedy of interrupted pregnancy or loss, expectations for a new mother can be very high and too often dismissive of the unique stressors involved with making a new human. When unpredicted changes happen, people can feel alone, isolated, and afraid to give voice to their vulnerabilities.
