Life is messy, complex, and full of paradoxes. It is not easy to navigate life’s highs and lows, much less create a peaceful and authentic life in a world that often feels confusing and chaotic. My hope as a counselor is to provide a space that ultimately allows you to access your intrinsic strengths needed to design the life you truly want. I can join you on your journey to heal from trauma, unlearn patterns of suffering, and reconnect to your values. I am a Certified IFS Therapist and primarily use Internal Family Systems therapy with clients.

Therapy can be an incredibly rewarding act of self-care and I am here to help facilitate that journey for you and/or your family. My intention is that we work collaboratively to come up with a specific treatment plan for you so we can get you living to your utmost potential. Life is meant to be enjoyed and cherished but external and internal stressors can take us by the wayside and get us off track. Perhaps feeling lost, sad, angry, helpless, etc. Therapy helps give you support/tools to better manage those stressors and work through past trauma and pain.

You seem to have it all: career success, a beautiful home, and a seemingly perfect relationship. But beneath this facade lies pain. You've learned to mask your struggles, turning life's lemons into lemonade. Yet, this facade comes at a cost—you've sacrificed feeling and true living. Life feels like a monotonous routine; you're merely going through motions. Hidden beneath it all lies a lack of career purpose, overwhelming family obligations, and a fading spark in your relationships. You're mourning your former self, resenting the shell you've become.

I enjoy caring for my clients, who struggle to feel loved and cared for daily. I work with individuals suffering from anxiety, trauma, low self-esteem, major life changes, and couples and families who experience chronic relationship conflict. Many of my clients feel like their emotional needs aren’t being met. They feel guilty for wanting more in their lives and have difficulty advocating for themselves. I use EMDR, a structured yet flexible approach, to help clients process their trauma, reduce psychological distress, and promote healing and emotional well-being.

I see anyone who is ready to change his or her life. My ideal clients are individuals who are unsure of their future, perceive themselves negatively, and lack the confidence in themselves and the decisions they make. They want change, but are unsure of how to implement change.

Trained in family systems, I help uncover relational patterns that block paths to robust communication, deep connections, and richer relationships.
Places you come to, places you leave behind, places where you wish to arrive. You have come to one of life’s tough places and found confusion, conflict, and complications. Instead of enjoying life, you are spending much of it on anxiety, disappointment, shame, loneliness, pain, and stress. There are places of greater calm, simplicity, and well-being, where relationships are caring, connections are deep, and ease is daily. You have strength to make inroads towards new places and wisdom to find greater acceptance and enjoyment of your life journey. "On the long, rough road, the sun and moon will continue to shine" -Thich Nhat Hanh.

I look forward to working with you and your family as a guide on your journey to emotional wellness.
Though we may not realize during times of hardship and adversity, we all possess the power to endure and overcome. Sometimes it takes certain conversations to identify and amplify the assets or skills required to be placed back in control. Whether you're going through major life changes, experiencing feelings of hopelessness or just feel overwhelmed, you have it within you to conquer your issues.

Family Therapy

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
