I CAN HELP YOU HEAL YOUR RELATIONSHIP. PREMARITAL AND COUPLES COUNSELING. "Why does my partner overreact?" "Why do I get so triggered?" "How come the punishment doesn't fit the crime?" “Why can’t he be more supportive?” “Is anything I do ever enough for her?” While you are feeling hurt, you have an added layer of confusion. You simultaneously love your partner and even hope to stay in this relationship to keep your love, family, and dreams intact. You are torn in a tug-of-war of emotions and desire to feel understood, accepted, and embraced by your partner.

Do you feel stuck? Trapped? Afraid to live your best life? We all feel emotions like grief, hopelessness, anger, anxiety, shame, aimlessness or isolation at some point - that's real life. But if how you deal with your feelings hurts more than it helps, then maybe it’s time to try something new. I work with adults and teens to explore why they’re stuck and what changes to make so they can break free. Therapy can provide new ways of thinking and new strategies to deal with stress. Change can be hard and scary. But if we do it right, you won't just feel better - you'll actually BE better. Imagine that!

In our day-to-day lives, it can be difficult to notice changes in our mood, behavior, or relationships, and how that shift may be affecting our overall well-being. These changes can be caused by various stressors in our lives. As a therapist, I bring a genuine sense of compassion for the difficulties my clients face, placing great emphasis on building meaningful relationships, transparency, and authenticity. My integrated approach to care utilizes aspects of cognitive-behavioral, psychodynamic, and mindfulness techniques to work toward a patient-centered conceptualization of health.

Feeling disconnected and looking for meaningful connections with family and friends around you? Exhausted being the person who aims to please others, but then silently struggle with pain and resentment alone? Spending hours and days feeling confused, irritated and disappointed because you feel like a fulfilling life is not meant for you? You don't have to let the events of your past define you and expressing your pain does not need to happen in solitude. I have been where you are now and empathize with your pain. I am here to help shed the feeling of helplessness and self-blame that are holding you back.

There are times when things are not going as well as we'd like in our family, social or work relationships, particularly post-Covid. You may feel alone, depressed, anxious, or have conflict or discomfort with those you care about. In my psychotherapy practice I help couples, individuals & families restore their sense of well being and connection. People learn how to be more present and intentional in accordance with their values. Partners learn to be safely available to each other through a dialogue process that teaches more effective listening, deeper understanding and empathy. In person and Telehealth meetings are offered.

So many people go through constant life pressures such as family-related problems, challenges within inter-personal relationships, and marital issues compounded with unresolved past trauma. It is understandable that we initially seek relief but ultimately, we need clarity of mind and freedom from suffering. Everyone's journey is different; and every single person needs to be seen and heard. That's why I do what I do as a therapist - to be there for you.

Family Therapy

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
