Being stuck in traumatic memories or living in difficult circumstances makes life hard. I enjoy seeing families together to help them improve communication and to build closer relationships. Couples who invest therapy time into their relationship, report increased feelings of closeness and happiness in their lives. I am an AAMFT Approved Supervisor for MFT Interns and Associates. I enjoy helping MFT Trainees to improve their therapy skills to help others.

I enjoy being able to assist those who are in need of finding a way out of the darkness. Also, my practice focuses on the study of substance abuse/addiction counseling. I have experience working with children and geriatric populations. I think that telehealth and online therapy are very powerful tools that we have to bring our support to more people regardless of whether they are near or far.

I have experience working with clients of ages 7 and up and provide counseling to couples, individuals, and families experiencing relationship difficulties, grief, loss, trauma, depression, anxiety, phase of life problems, anger, and those seeking better ways to handle life's difficulties. I work with motivated clients who are looking to change their current situations and improve the quality of their life.

I currently offer online Telehealth counseling for a variety of individuals living anywhere in the State of Louisiana suffering with any of life's pains. I hold a PLPC and am a Certified Trauma Professional. I graduated from NSU in 2008 with a Bachelors of Arts in Psychology with a concentration in Addictive Studies. I also attended University of Louisiana at Monroe and graduated in 2014 with a Master's of Science Degree in Clinical Mental Health. I completed over 3000 hours post graduate in inpatient psychiatric care of the elderly as well as Multi Systemic Therapy in the community and outpatient mental health rehabilitation.

Growing up watching my grandmother struggle daily with mental illness, I naturally grew to have a heart for helping other people. I have spent the last decade of my life in the helping community and I believe that it is my life’s purpose to help people actualize the life they wish to have. I explain my position as a therapist by saying this to my clients, “It’s not my job to fix you because you are not broken. It’s my job to help you see things in a different way that will help you to function better” I welcome you as clients to embark on this journey of healing. My primary focus is working with men, women, and couples. With that focus, I’ve had experience working with substance and process addictions, eating disorders, professionals, other compulsive or problematic behaviors, and general mental health struggles, such as anxiety or depression. My passion is working with those struggling with healthy intimacy, appropriate attachment, and relational issues. Just with those three things can come so much confusion, hurt, and sadness. With help and growth, there can be healing, hope, and strength. I believe while we often get hurt in relationships, we can also be healed in relationships.

Lawrencia has experience working with individuals, couples, families, children and teens - ages 10 and up. I work with clients who have a variety of challenges such as: racial trauma, adjustment and transition issues, relationship conflict and challenges, PTSD, parent-child relationships, struggle with self-care, self-esteem issues, anxiety, depression and more! Lawrencia works with a variety of populations. However, working with adolescent and teen girls, minority populations and exploring the effects of historical trauma are the clinician's favorites.
