At the Family Counseling Center we believe each person is unique and offer individualized treatment at our centers. The therapists and I have formal and ongoing training in marriage and family therapy and behavioral psychology. I earned a Master of Arts Degree in Clinical Psychology from Roosevelt University in 2005, and a Master of Business Administration with a concentration in Health Service Management from Keller Business School of Management in 2013. I am a License Clinical Professional Counselor with 18 years of experience working with children, adolescents, and adults and families. I provide individual, family, marital, and group counseling to clients in the community outpatient clinics, hospitals, and in the home. I specialize in person centered care utilizing clients' strengths in overcoming barriers and emotional distress.

Starting on a course of healing takes courage, but it is one of the most rewarding things we can do for ourselves. We have all been hurt at different times, and those hurt parts of ourselves are very grateful when we give them some loving attention and start the healing process. We unconsciously create blocks to our own health, but we can also learn to gently release those blocks. We are actually hard-wired for loving ourselves, believe it or not, even those parts we don't like, are afraid of, or are embarrassed about, and that self-love is healing. Therapy is not an instant process, but is very worthwhile.

As a clinical psychologist, my approach is collaborative, intentional, and custom fit to meet the needs of clients searching for support/guidance in improving their overall emotional well-being. I view each client as the expert of their own experiences and work with them to find a life and way of living that is congruent with their values and current goals.

Annie Tormos, LCPC, LPC-MHSP, believes that every person has the ability to live a happy, healthy, engaging life, but at times individuals need an objective observer to help uncover what that life looks like. She treats clients ages 15 and up struggling with a variety of challenges, including parenting and family conflict. Annie is a National Board-Certified Counselor. She is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in the State of Illinois and a Licensed Professional Counselor "“ MHSP in the State of Tennessee. Elizabeth is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, with a Master’s in counseling from Saint Xavier University. Elizabeth received a certification in Animal Assisted Therapy from Oakland University and is also a registered handler through Pet Partners. Elizabeth has experience working with mild to severe mental illness, as well as children and adults with developmental disabilities in outpatient settings. Elizabeth has worked in Community Agencies as a Mental Health Counselor, providing individual, group, couples and family counseling. Elizabeth also has a background in animal training, enrichment and rescue.
