It is the desire of every human being to be loved and to belong. The only true thing that distinguishes us from one another is our experiences and our perspective of those experiences. Your past, the personal struggles and decisions you currently face and the conflicts between you and those you care about does not define you. What I offer is empathy, compassion, and support with a focus on creating a warm, safe and welcoming environment where you can be heard and understood without judgment.

I work with young adults, adults, and families, focusing on areas such as adult complex trauma, mood disorders, and personality disorders. My practice incorporates various therapeutic approaches, but I particularly favor an integrative approach. During the initial three to four sessions, I aim to gain insight into your unique self, which enables me to tailor the sessions accordingly. In my practice, I believe in the importance of understanding each individual's unique experience and perspective. This means that rather than adhering to a one-size-fits-all approach, I utilize a combination of therapeutic techniques that best suit you

In addition to this, I have facilitated family therapy sessions and group therapy sessions including CBT, process and trauma groups.
I have always been fascinated with understanding how people think, how they have come to believe what they believe and how they have become who they are. I have come to realize that many people simply want to feel heard, understood and cared for. This is part of the reason why I became a counselor, along with wanting to help people and destigmatize mental health. Coming from immigrant parents who came to America to enable their children to live a better life than they did, to them that meant getting a practical & stable job. But with time I realized that I didn't want my life to be just practical – I also wanted it to be purposeful.

Hello, I appreciate you wanting to find out more about me, and how I might be able to help you. Simply put, I listen well. I respect that you can speak for yourself and I understand the impact of trauma. I believe that the strength of the family unit is key to each member thriving. You may need to be heard, repair relationships, heal from being hurt and hurting others, or explore new ways of communicating. Facing fears and difficult decisions takes courage. Building better communication and stronger relationships takes time and effort. So, where to start? We can meet, and then you can decide if you feel comfortable with me.

As we walk through different seasons of our lives, we may all need caring individuals that can offer interventions, help and/or support during our circumstances. Going further, I believe that we were innately created to be in covenant or relationship with our creator, our family or other social circles that we choose to surround ourselves with. However, it is a very personal choice as to how each one of us chooses to go about this path. My strong belief in this basic aspect of life gave birth to Covenant Intuition Center.

With these therapies, many people have gotten great relief from their personal or professional difficulties with partners, family, or friends.
Psychotherapy and psychoanalysis are two well-established forms of talk therapy; they have been used for well over one-hundred years. These therapies help people explore their inner thoughts and feelings in the privacy of a professional relationship. These private conversations are different from talking with a friend or family member; they are confidential, nonjudgmental, and personal.

I have spent the last 13 years becoming formally trained in therapeutic models that are both restorative and result producing (Internal Family Systems, Somatic Internal Family Systems, EMDR, Art Therapy).
When we are able to truly understand ourselves and our relationships, we can build a life of genuine meaning and connection. Many people enter into therapy only to find themselves gaining small amounts of insight that produce little or no changes in their life. My therapeutic methods produce results that not only change the way we feel about ourselves in the world but change our behaviors. I am respectful of the fact that everyone's pace and tolerance to different interventions varies. My work is reflective of the care and respect I have for each and every client as individuals.

I believe therapy is a collaborative space for folks to explore their biographies and learn to hold deeper relationships with their own self and others. Change happens when we feel safe to be curious and understanding of our patterns and choices. I invite clients to explore the intersections of their identities with me as we create a space that is brave and trusting. I see the connection between the external world and our internal experience as central to the therapy process. I'm mindful to social identities, dynamics in family systems, and the larger cultural landscape that impact a person's sense of self.

I work best with clients who are troubled by anxiety, depression, relationship issues, losses or trauma, and life transition issues. I provide individual and family therapy for children, adolescents, and adults. I use a variety of treatment techniques including cognitive, psychodynamic, and client-centered therapies as well as behavior management strategies. My research on coping with traumatic life events has prepared me well to work with clients who have experienced trauma and crisis. A life crisis can be debilitating at first, but can lead to a search for meaning and dramatic new growth. It is exciting for me to accompany clients in this process!

Family Therapy

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
