Hello there! I would love to hear from you about what's going on, and I think I can help. I am a licensed clinical professional counselor specializing in child, adolescent, adult, family, and couples psychotherapy. I provide treatment for psychological and emotional issues using an integrative Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) approach combined with a psychodynamic perspective. During crisis, it is important for my clients to have the skills to gracefully endure their suffering (the DBT component)--all the while keeping in mind the harder to see big picture where deeper issues occur at an unconscious level (the psychodynamic component).
I understand that at different times my clients may need different kinds of intervention. The combination of Dialectical Behavioral Therapy alongside psychodynamic therapy can help those who are struggling with intense emotions or impulsive behaviors, while at the same time understanding the underlying issues that may cause chronic relationship difficulties.
Because I specialize in different treatment modalities, I feel that I can provide a more thorough and effective treatment to my clients in order to help them live more fulfilling lives. In addition to individual Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, I also offer a Dialectical Behavioral Therapy skills training group.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) provides an opportunity to gain the skills necessary for identifying, experiencing and regulating emotions, in order to interact more effectively with ourselves and others. In this skills training group, discussions focus on managing emotions, learning to be more effective in relationships, and learning techniques for tolerating distress. The overall approach to therapy is called "dialectical" because it seeks balance between opposites--such as acceptance and change, validation and challenge, rigidity and flexibility. Underlying DBT is the practice of "mindfulness." Drawn from the Zen tradition of meditation, mindfulness is about attending to the moment, without judgment or impulsivity.
